🎊 On this 🇪🇺 #EuropeDay, let's take the time to celebrate various actors making waves to transform the European #foodsystem. #Climatechange, geopolitical tensions, and consumer access to healthy and flavorful food: those are just a few of the numerous concerns affecting our food systems that require immediate attention. 🌐 #FOODPathS is striving to address these challenges: ✅ The project is collaborating with researchers, farmers, industry representatives, NGOs, policymakers, and public and private investors to establish a European Partnership 🤝 ✅ The project seeks to fund #R&I activities for healthy and sustainable food production and consumption in Europe. 🔔 It is time for a collaborative approach: The Seeds for Food Coalition introduces it's working concept note. The coalition has been established by different partners from public institutions and private sector, UN, research organizations, farmers organizations, and civil society organizations; from the global North and South. It is a multi-institutional engagement, amongst organizations and individuals who are willing to embrace a diversity of perspectives and expertise; and are united in the belief that seeds are an important part of the solution towards transforming food systems. Exciting webinar on #agroecology and the USD11.5 million agroecological TRANSITIONS programme, February 8th at 8-9:30am ET. Proud to be part of the team managing this revolutionary programme, which is producing breaking edge research on the drivers of agroecological transitions. Despite widespread support from social movements and growing recognition from scientific and international bodies, the growth and spread of agroecology is still constrained in a number of ways. The Agroecological Transitions programme aims to empower farmers in low- and middle-income countries to make large-scale “climate-informed agroecological transitions” by developing 1) holistic metrics for food systems 2) farmer-inclusive digital tools 3) traceable private-public sector incentives for agroecology

What we have been doing in this part of the world is linking export and investments, for example, of agricultural products, to values. In the new world, that is no longer sustainable says Rob de Wijk from HCSS - The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies. We have to change our position in order to get access to the raw materials. We simply cannot always dictate to other countries how they should behave. Last week, the #Food2030 conference took place in Brussels, where several EU-funded projects showcased their amazing work and impact on transforming our food systems to make them more sustainable, healthy, and inclusive. The conference was a great opportunity for the food systems community to learn from the best practices and innovations of these projects, as well as to network with researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and civil society actors who are shaping the future of food in Europe and beyond. ➡️ One of the highlights of the conference was the Green Deal Projects Support Office stand, where food-themed projects that are part of the Green Deal Call presented their work and achievements. The Green Deal Projects Support Office booth highlighted the innovative accomplishments of our Food-themed projects, urging visitors to discover shared aspects and participate in meaningful discussions. The Green Deal Call (under which the #NeoGiaNT project is funded) is a funding scheme that supports research and innovation actions that contribute to the European Green Deal objectives.
