Meet Cayl Andrew Franco, who has recently joined Fifty Acres in our internship program. Cayl has studied at both Monash University and University of the Philippines, and has a passion for advocacy and creating social impact. We’re very thankful to have Cayl as part of the team. We asked Cayl some questions about his experiences. Q. Why did you choose to study communications? Cayl's answer: The things we say can either make or break situations that can enhance the lives of other people. I have always been vocal in advocating for a better life for humankind in all sectors of society, especially the marginalised and the oppressed. Q. What’s been your favourite thing you have worked on so far at Fifty Acres? Cayl's answer: Working with Fifty Acres helps me to be more passionate in sparking impactful conversations for the greater good of society. I believe that everyone, regardless of their background and current circumstances can join forces and pave the way for a better community that is just, fair, and catering to the needs of its people. Q. What’s something you are looking forward to learning more about? Cayl's answer: I look forward to gaining deeper knowledge on how I can continue to be an influence to others with my passion for both communicating and advocating for a better society.

Meet UTS alumni, Mikayla Sacks! Mikayla studied a Bachelor of Communications and a Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation. During her studies, she undertook internships with The Works and JOY creative agencies, and she now works as a Digital Executive with The Arnotts Group. "Being a student studying advertising is so different to actually being in the field, and these internships really helped me understand what it would look and feel like to work in the industry. Having this exposure to real-life advertising made me more knowledgeable and able to ask better questions when I spoke to industry professionals. I often found that those who had undertaken internships understood the nuances of the industry more compared to those who hadn’t had any industry work experience. Meet Wren Heron ‘24! Wren studied Communications and Media and minored in English and Asian Studies. We asked Wren about future plans and favorite parts at Naz: 1. What was your best experience at Naz? If I were to rank my best experiences, the top ones would be the time I’ve spent with the friends who I’ve made on campus. Nothing compares to the affinity we found with each other and the way we all supported each other in growing and learning about ourselves. 2. Who was your favorite professor? Dr. Phillip B. Guingona has had a tremendous impact on me as both a student and a person. His classes allowed me to pursue academic interests that I hadn’t previously had the opportunity to explore, meet my closest friends, and start learning more about myself. As a professor, Phillip truly values the lens that I bring to the classroom as an interdisciplinary student, and he has wholeheartedly supported my research and academic endeavors, even when I haven’t been confident in them myself. 3. What’s next? Summer internship at LáLew Public Relations- a woman and minority-owned public relations firm that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion in client work. After the summer, I hope to pursue a career path that allows me to engage in DEI work and push for more inclusive and accessible language.
