Today, as part of the Waitrose & Partners Helping Hands programme, I worked a shift in my local Waitrose branch in East Grinstead.
I was assigned to the Beers, Wines & Spirits team and my final task was to restock the canned cocktails fixture. I’m quite proud of my work - see the photo attached. Unfortunately, MOTH Drinks - B Corp™ your Old Fasioned is obviously so popular it was out of stock and so it was one of the gaps I was unable to fill!
It was whilst working behind the meat counter at my then local Waitrose & Partners branch in Tonbridge that I came up with the idea for Awfully Posh Pork Crackling.
Waitrose was the first major retailer to stock the product and 10 years on I’m proud to say it’s still going strong thanks to the support of our current buyer Will Sanderson. 10 years is quite the milestone!
Of course I couldn’t leave without also restocking our Awfully Posh Pork Crackling as the shelf was nearly empty when I arrived!
I chose today as I thought it would be one of the days the partners needed the most help, but part of me is regretting that decision as it was a tough shift and I’m knackered! The store was packed!
Treating myself to a 🍺 as I type this!
Thanks to Charlotte Di Cello for inviting me to join the programme and to Jeremy, the branch manager, for being so patient with me! It was lovely to meet so many lovely members of the Waitrose East Grinstead team.
May I take this opportunity to wish all of my connections a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄
