#Deinstitutionalization policies have shifted #mental #health care from inpatient to #community-based settings, with #Assertive #Community #Treatment (ACT) emerging as a prominent alternative for children and adolescents with severe mental illness. ACT involves proactive treatment in the patient's environment to enhance motivation and avoid hospitalization. While ACT has shown effectiveness in adults, its impact on youth remains unclear. This systematic review evaluated the efficacy of youth-ACT on psychiatric symptom severity, overall functioning, and hospital admissions. The existing literature on youth-ACT is constrained yet encouraging. Hey, mental health clinicians, I'm interested in doing a LOW KEY (not fancy, not hi-tech, not formal podcast-y) gathering with some regularity (?monthly) with me and 1 or 2 co-leaders (MD's or non-MD mental health clinicians) for informal discussions among interested colleagues online and/or in person on all sorts of topics/angles in psychiatry/psychology, such as: -psychopharm aspects of conditions and therapy for the non-psychiatrists -various types of therapies and/or challenges in therapies -practice building challenges -practice tech issues (from practice software to tech things in therapy (e.g., virtual ERP stuff) -social justice/anti-racism in practices -adding non-profit aspects to one's practice -dealing with countertransference -really anything With the idea that I am no expert in any of the above except for psychopharm, so I'd bring that and my 25+ years in clinical practice to the table as a facilitator and participant. It would be called ________ (I don't know yet, as I'm distracted by my cat doing laps around me at the table while I write this--she keeps nibbling at my ankles and I keep scrunching her which is--well, you CBT/parent behavior management experts know how ill-advised that is) Anyway, something that is not formally didactic, is not too froo froo (spelling?), not too esoteric and boring, not formally psychoed, not formally group/peer supervision, but could be akin to a semi-didactic'y cocktail hour once every 1-3 months with a topic that I and 1 or 2 others would facilitate (though, hopefully, if people just wanted to decompress and vent, then, despite being prepared for one topic or another, we could do just that and punt the content to later). Between my solo practice, which is so big my heads about to spontaneously combust) and managing out group practice, Center for Wise Mind Living, I don't want this to feel like "work" for anyone, but, also, I do have a quarter century (not including the 4 years of med school and 5 years of psychiatry training (adult then child fellowship fast-tracked in)), so it's all jammed in there somewhere. Anyway, I'd likely do this from our CWML suite conference room, since we have a big @ss conference table for those who'd be able to come in person and a decent sized flat screen and for those interested in coming virtually. Anyway, let me know if anyone has interest (or ideas).
