I cracked the #IIFT 2015 interview with a 45 minute rapid-fire discussion on World War 2 from both the perspectives of Allied and Axis Powers. It's a beautiful feeling when your passion for random knowledge helps you get into a premium MBA program. I had read some military history, and tried to drive the conversation there. What followed is my most #unique interview experience, of the 25+ I’ve had so far. Luckily, one panelist was a history buff and the discussion turned to World War 2. He initially seemed surprised but then turned it into a stress interview, grilling me about minor details of the war, like the role of #Vichy #France, the Ardennes Offensive, #ManhattanProject, #Unit731 and the exact gas used for the #Holocaust (Zyklon-B, primarily Hydrogen Cyanide). It was a blitzkrieg from both sides and the interview stretched on for 55 minutes against an allocated time of 30 minutes. No other topic was even discussed after the 10th minute. In the end, the panelists asked me to take a customary toffee, shook my hands, and just like that, it was over. I then wondered if I had just committed hara-kiri in one of the best interview calls I had that year? Result: #Selected. 99.76%ile, with 75/100 in interview, one of the highest in the batch, & a memorable interview experience. I learnt the importance of being a #LearningSponge, a term I’ve shamelessly stolen from a friend. (Pragya, hope you don’t mind.) #Knowledge has an outsized impact in the unlikeliest of situations. It truly helps when you’re passionate and know far more than the average person on any topic, even if it’s a niche one. So, never stop learning, no matter the field you’re interested in, always accumulate new information, and never stop getting #Wyzr. #interviewtips #mbaadmissions #worldwar2 #learning #generalawareness #gk #history #iift #interviewexperience #interviewsuccess #memorablemoments #mbajourney #mbaapplication #mbaaspirants #Wyzr

Today was an insightful day as I took part in City Investment Training's 2-day introductory course, led by Sameer Merchant, CFA. We delved into the world of high finance, learning about the different jobs available and how to succeed in job interviews. The session also covered how to read financial statements and value companies. I can't wait for tomorrow's session, where we will learn how to build financial models.
