🌟An inspiring week for change at the CREATE Foundation Conference in Adelaide, where our National Program Director, Cameron Burgess, heard from and joined forces with young voices from across Australia 📢 CREATE champions youth voices and a pivotal belief: for the 44,000 young Australians growing up in care, meaningful improvements demand a partnership with those who have lived it. This year’s conference theme, ‘Your Stories. Stronger Together,’ brought this vision to life, emphasising the power of individual journeys in shaping a collective future. Voices in Action. The Voices in Action conference was more than an event; it was a movement. Bringing together young people, carers, and professionals, it provided an in-depth exploration of the care system through the eyes of its most important stakeholders – the children and young people themselves. Cameron had the opportunity to hear from so many of our young people and discuss finding meaning in adversity, encouraging us all to use our stories as a catalyst for change and to stand together in solidarity. It was also a joy to hear and see the positive support and advocacy of Amanda Rishworth Helen Connolly Liana Buchanan Jodie Griffiths-Cook Natalie Lewis Leanne McLean Katrine Hildyard MP Jackie Bray Jacqueline M. Together, we’re not just sharing stories; we’re setting the stage for systemic reform in the out-of-home care sector. By elevating the voices of young leaders, we ensure our care system in Australia is not just effective, but transformative. Let’s continue to listen, learn, and lead with empathy and action. 💪 #YourStories #StrongerTogether #CREATEConference #YouthVoice #YouthAgency #VoicesInAction #Leadership

✨ Inspiring words from Lauren Pollock at the United Nations 2024 ECOSOC Youth Forum ✨ "We need to grant young people real power—the POWER of Presence at the table, Ownership over their voice, Wisdom from lived experience, Equality in decision-making, and Responsibility of collective outcomes." These words truly resonate with our mission at Y. It's time to shift the narrative. "Let's stop defining young people by their age and start recognizing them as indispensable, equal partners in our shared journey towards sustainable development." At the Y in Australia, we believe in the POWER of inspired young people. We believe in giving them the tools and opportunities they need to thrive, succeed, and make meaningful contributions to society. Together, let's create a better world where every young person feels valued, heard, and empowered to make a difference. Are you with us? 🌎🚀 #YouthEmpowerment #Equality #SustainableDevelopment #whereyoubelong #YAustralia

My friend, Matisa Wilbon, Ph.D., shared her insights on the importance of fostering equity in our daily lives. 🇺🇸 Her thought-provoking presentation emphasized the role of community in removing barriers and enabling opportunities for all to succeed. My friend eloquently differentiated between equality and equity, explaining how equity takes into account individual needs and differences, ultimately leveling the playing field. She went on to highlight three critical actions we can take to promote equity: ⭐️ Fix what isn't working - by addressing systemic issues that perpetuate inequality, we create a more inclusive and just society. ⭐️ Practice empathy - Fear destabilizes communities - prioritize actions that empower and support marginalized communities to break down barriers and thrive. ⭐️ Understand the benefits of equity - creating a fair environment for everyone leads to shared prosperity and unlocks untapped potential. One powerful quote that stuck with me is, "Some people have more potential than resources” and if we all pitch in, we can do more together. 💪🏾💪🏾 Her statement underscores the notion that our collective efforts can make a real difference in advancing equity. I encourage you to take a moment and view Matisa Wilbon, Ph.D.'s inspiring talk, as her words of wisdom remind us of the importance of practicing everyday equity and supporting one another in achieving success. Thank you, Matisa Wilbon, Ph.D., for your dedication to building a more equitable world. 🌍 Let's all reflect on how we can contribute to making a difference in our communities. #EverydayEquity #EqualityvsEquity #CommunityEmpowermentp

In mission-driven nonprofits and multinational corporations alike, organizations – workplaces, faith communities, schools - are where many of us learn and practice ways of navigating different perspectives. It’s where we are likeliest to encounter people with different backgrounds and identities. It’s where we acquire norms around conflict and collective decision-making. Organizational cultures exert a powerful influence on the way Americans engage in civic life, on the norms of our political deliberation and discourse, and on the level of polarization we see in our communities and across the nation. Co-created by Essential Partners and the 92NY’s Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, the new Share Our Organization Toolkit can help your organization become an incubator for democracy while helping you and your colleagues meet goals, hold difficult conversations, set new policy, and build a culture of collaboration, innovation, and belonging. Moving from ‘what’ to ‘how’: BIC (Baha'i International Community) Collaborates with Ambassadors and Civil Society at UN Commission on Social Development NEW YORK—14 February 2024—The 62nd session of the Commission for #socialdevelopment #CSocD62 concluded this week, contributing to the global drive for social development and equity. This year’s session, on fostering social development and #socialjustice , emphasized the critical need for meaningful reflection on the barriers to #socialprogress , as well as success stories around inclusive growth and bridging inequalities. “What struck me about this Commission is the degree to which the international community is increasingly prepared to move beyond the ‘what’ we need, to question the ‘how’ we can achieve it,” said Daniel Perell, Baha’i International Community (BIC) Representative to the United Nations. “Moving beyond aspirations to a meaningful exploration of what is holding humanity back is a valuable step in charting a path towards a better world.” Throughout the Commission, BIC delegates engaged in events and discussions aimed at advancing the social development agenda. Among various initiatives, the BIC opened its offices to a high-level event, “Reviewing Progress on Implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration,” hosted by the Club de Madrid and the NGO Committee for Social Development...
