Walking in the cold and briefly experiencing life through the lens of homelessness can be a powerful way to foster empathy and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the homeless population Coldest Night of the Year did spectacular events that give us a glimpse of how streets look like in wintertime; it's the awareness that gives opportunity to fill the shoes who's in need that made us contribute to the the change that we need in our world. Why is Set To Thrive important to our vulnerable children? Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a psychological theory that categorizes human needs into a five-tier pyramid. At the base are the physiological needs, including essentials like food, water, clothes, and shelter. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows the critical need of Set To Thrive in our community. Set To Thrive’s mission is to provide children experiencing foster care and homelessness with new essential items (clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and more) to bring comfort and confidence during a vulnerable time. We are proud to be able to partner with other organizations in our community that work to meet all the needs of our youth and get them to a place where they can be comfortable, confident, and thrive. Thank you Bombas, Project Glimmer, One Warm Coat, Bloc Bags for partnering with Set To Thrive. We are always looking for corporate partners to help us make an even bigger impact. Let’s make an impact together for our local children experiencing foster care and homelessness. #communityengagement #fostercareawareness #homelessnessawareness #contracosta #alamedacounty #trivalley

Growing up in a community of single mothers, homelessness and chronic housing instability were constants in my life. Though I wasn't a foster child myself, my mother and aunts hailed from foster backgrounds, and so instability was a regular occurrence. Fast forward to 2024, serving and uplifting unhoused youth becomes my mission. The spaces God places me are on purpose, for a purpose. 🙏🏾 Youth homelessness is a super complex issue. Shelters are overcrowded, transitional housing is few, and affordable housing - don’t get me started. According to NCSL: 👉🏾 Each year, 1.5 million children and adolescents flee home due to family conflicts, abuse, or neglect, finding themselves homeless. 👉🏾 Over 250,000 children enter foster care annually, with more than 23,000 aging out each year. These youths face heightened risks of homelessness due to various factors, including unstable placements, histories of running away, and time spent in institutional settings. At Pour Over Love, the youth we serve encounter challenges unique to Atlanta, such as the prevalence of sex trafficking and the increasing presence of gangs and initiations. We're dedicated to empowering our youth through a comprehensive approach: expanding our resources to encompass career development, on-the-job training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we aim to facilitate successful transitions. Our goal is ambitious yet attainable: within our 12-month cohorts, we strive to secure stable housing and meaningful careers for each individual, setting the stage for sustainable lifestyles. 🤝 Will you help me in transitioning the lives of Atlanta’s at-risk youth? Whatever form your contribution takes (financial, mentorship, reposting), know that it is invaluable to us. Your support enables us to continue our vital work, impacting lives and reshaping futures, and we greatly appreciate your contributions. https://lnkd.in/eSi-eTg4 #nonprofit #supporttheyouth #fundraising #impactdriven #homelessness #careerdevelopment #jobtraining #mentorship #affordablehousing #employment

Seeking position with company that values my experience in Assisted Living Sales/Marketing, Care Management, Human Resources, Business Management, Volunteering. Willing to relocate!
Homelessness is a pressing issue in America that requires attention and action from all levels of government. From cities to State to the next President, it's crucial that we address the needs of our homeless population. Living in Tucson has given me insight into the challenges faced by homeless individuals, especially as some states transport homeless individuals to warmer regions. While housing initiatives for migrants are important, we must also prioritize solutions for our own homeless population. Healthcare is another critical aspect that needs to be addressed. Many US citizens lack access to affordable healthcare, including essential mental health services. It's time to ensure healthcare for all Americans. Check out the link below for more information on community efforts to address homelessness and related challenges. (Issues near and dear to my heart, in case you wonder.) #Homelessness #USGovernment #HealthcareForAll

🚀 Unlocking Intrinsic Motivation | Cognitive Behavioural Psychology Advocate | Veteran & Business Leader | Personal & Professional Growth Guide 🌟
Last night I sat with a young mum, struggling to survive. What was my purpose - Simply listening to understand It got me thinking about the debate surrounding the relevance of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs in this chaotic world. Yes, some adaptation is necessary, but let's not skim over the basics and the impact to our motivations. Her motivations? > Basic physiological needs of her family - Food and sleep > Safety needs of her children - security and stability For this young mum, all else felt trivial. Remember, Maslow's Hierarchy of needs are built on foundations, and we must first meet the lower level needs before higher needs can be fulfilled. When you are talking to someone whose basic physiological and safety needs are the driving force, it truly puts life into perspective. #motivation #socialimpact
