My career gifted me a Mother's Day present — my first byline featured in PRNEWS and on a topic I am most passionate about (no, not Taylor Swift...) motherhood! Being a working momma has come with challenges and sacrifices and has been a big learning/growing experience for me over the past (almost 3!) years. One of my favorite briefs came from one of the nicest people in advertising, the founder of the Omnicom Collective shop, Dieste, Tony Dieste. After asking me to address the team at the annual wrap-up meeting, I ask Tony what the brief was. After a pregnant pause he said: "Make them laugh. Make them cry. And as they're walking out the door, make them buzz with pride that they work here." Simple. Direct. Clear in destination. Unfettered in how to get there. And with a poetic sensibility. Happy to say, I paid off that brief. One that reminds me of one of the great briefs ever: the Coca-Cola bottle design brief. Again, simple, direct and poetic. Give your team simple direction like this and you will be simply amazed by the results.

Why Motivation is a BIG part of our service A core part of our brand belief is to look beyond our service and focus our perspective on our consumers to understand them better. Doing this allows us to widen our thoughts, innovations, and activities around the people that matter the most to us, our customers. In doing this, we have learned (and are still learning) their peculiar needs, wants and aspirations. But we’ve also understood better just how tasking motherhood is, and this was a defining factor in how we wanted Bloomers to sound. Realizing the uncertainty and anxiety that comes with motherhood, it became clear to us that being a voice of motivation and encouragement would do two major things for both them and us. Allow our moms to feel seen by us Allow us to share in their struggles and support them through it. So, any chance we get, we motivate them. In our communications, through customer service, through our app, during outreach programs, at every interaction, we are there to be a pillar of support. It makes us a part of their stories and for us there’s no greater honor.

Feedback is a gift. While not every company encourages frequent gift-giving, it's crucial to understand how to receive these gestures. We all enjoy presenting gifts, savoring the recipient's reaction. However, interpreting their response can be challenging—did they appreciate it, or not? Even if they didn't, it's okay; I promise not to repeat the same gift, adjusting my approach. Receiving gifts is delightful, but what if you already have the item or dislike it? Another dusty candle or angel statue on the shelf, perhaps? Consider perspectives: over time, I'll learn to give suitable gifts or refrain if it's not the right fit. Simultaneously, I'll discover how to communicate my preferences when receiving gifts. While special occasions often bring expectations, but the joy of unexpected, modest gifts like fruit or coffee is unparalleled. Conversely, the disappointment of expecting gifts and not receiving them is disheartening. Let's embrace the nuances of giving and receiving, fostering a culture of thoughtful gestures. #FeedbackMatters #GiftsOfUnderstanding
