This isn't my usual LinkedIn post, and it might get its share of eye-rolls… but I accomplished something really challenging and I’m gonna celebrate it! 🎉 Today marks 2 months of being nicotine-free 🚭 and 6 months alcohol-free 🥂! I’d be lying if I said I’m not sharing to publicly pat myself on the back 😅 , but I’m also sharing because it helps keep me accountable ✅ and may inspire others who are considering breaking up with some of their guiltier pleasures. 💡 A few insights from my experience: 🔎 Find your compelling why. For me, it's my son. Every moment hungover was time poorly spent with him or not spent with him at all. Every puff of nicotine increased my risks of not being around for him, period. ❄️ Every journey is unique. Gradually quitting nicotine never worked for me. Two months ago, I ripped the Band-Aid off, endured a tough couple of weeks, and haven't looked back since. Alcohol, however, I’ve warmed up to quitting by taking Q1 off the last 7 years. 📢 Share your journey. The more people you tell, the more accountable you'll feel. Sure, some might find it annoying, but those who care about your health will support you. Your well-being matters more than a few eye rolls. 🚀 Embrace the non-linear path. I've failed at quitting nicotine at least 20 times over the past 17 years. This is the longest I've gone since quitting for 2 years, 15 years ago. The journey has had its zigs, zags, and loopty-loops, but it's all part of the process. Don’t dwell on the past; keep your sights on the future. To anyone on a similar path or considering it, keep pushing forward. You got this! 💪 Feel free to shoot me a note if you want to chat about your journey. #NicotineFree #AlcoholFree #HealthAndWellness
I love this! I love people sharing their lives outside of work and showing up in ways that can encourage others to take steps to be the best versions of themselves. Congratulations!!! And just tossing in the ring because it was pivotal in my alcohol free journey - highly recommend reading “This Naked Mind” by Annie Grace. It takes the emotion out of alcohol and focuses on the physiological impact. That was enough to keep me from going back. Cheers!
Also 6 months booze-free. Need to quit vaping but I haven't had a cig for ages. Congrats dude!
Datis heck yea let’s go man! Congrats! Just crossed 6mos no booze myself too and do not miss hangovers at all. Early morning surfing has been good replacement if you ever make it back to California!
Holy crap man! That's amazing. Congrats dude, keep it up, happy for you 👏
Rooting for you, Datis Mohsenipour ! Congratulations.
Congrats man that is amazing, I quit smoking just before my son was born and he just turned 11 in March!!
Amazing stuff! I can’t believe it’s already been 6 months! It’s truly inspiring to see your journey, and I’m so proud of you. Keep going strong!
Huge congratulations Datis. And huge respect for sharing your journey with others… that’s a powerful move.
Amazing work!! So many of my friends and family are doing a year or more...life is so beautiful once you start to feel and conquer the day more! Thank you for sharing!!!!

1moLove what you’ve posted here - I did the same when my first son was born (quitting smoking) and massively curbing alcohol. It’s a game changer.
