President, New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences

Giving you a glimpse into the moment: the contract signing. Just days before we announced to the world that we would be bringing even more ships to life for Disney Cruise Line, we hosted the official contract signing ceremony with MEYER WERFT GmbH & Co. KG. It was an intimate meeting, where our two teams came together, brimming with pride and emotion as we looked forward to the future for both our companies. We exchanged heartfelt stories and shared fond memories, reminiscing about the start of our work together on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. How we’ve grown since then.   Of course, Captain Mickey made a surprise appearance to celebrate with the teams. And Meyer Werft surprised us with their own “magical moment,” with bells to signify each ship that will be built at their shipyard. After each contract was signed, we rang the bell in celebration. Powerful. And you can see it on our faces – our teams are beyond excited for what is in store.    But I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the cast, crew and leadership of Disney Cruise Line – both past and present – who got us to this point. Your contributions to our incredible 25-year legacy of Disney Cruising are why we can move forward with this ambitious and unprecedented expansion.    This is as much your celebration as it is ours.   #DisneySignatureExperiences #DisneyCruiseLine #MeyerWerft

Thank you for acknowledging the crew working and sailing on the ships every single day. Having been an officer onboard DCL for 6 years, it seems our shoreside teams were honored quite a bit and the ones servicing the guests everyday on the ships were an afterthought. I am excited to see the expansion and additional ships set to sail across the globe! Keep up the good work and please…remember to listen to crew members onboard. They know the ships inside and out and understand what works and what doesn’t. Plus, remember they work 7 days a week up to 12 hours a day for 4-7 months at a time. They deserve so much recognition!

Having been part of the team in late 1993 and early 1994 that persuaded our board to enter the cruise business I’m exceptionally proud of how DCL has introduced innovative and creative concepts that became benchmarks for the industry. DCL continues to push the envelope and the traveling public has responded so well that fleet expansion is a necessity. With a strong focus on the Cast, Crew, guests and destination service provider’s, satisfaction ratings are off the chart. Congratulations DCL!

I had the honour of being part of the DCL opening team, and this experience remained and will remain forever in my memory for the best reasons. Unfortunately, for family reasons I left in 2001, but I never stopped following this fantastic and unique cruise line, and it is with great satisfaction that I see its continued growth. Very often people ask me to compare DCL with other companies, to which I always respond that there is no possible comparison, while other companies compete with each other, DCL is a world apart, it is an exceptional and unique product, which only competes with herself. Dear Mr. Thomas Mazloum, I wish you continued success!

Working on the DCL team will be a favorite role and memory within my 18+ years at Disney, that I have the pleasure of sharing with so many colleagues, travel agents & media. It was such a joy to bring so many agents and journalists on board for their first time, to experience the Disney way of cruising-“second-to-none” in so many areas; culinary offerings, purpose built stunning ships, unique (and quite groundbreaking) children and adult offerings, and an amazingly genuine crew who loved their roles creating magic for our passengers. I beamed with pride every day representing such an amazing product. A true highlight of my career! So excited to see the continued growth of the and expansion of the fleet. Huge congratulations to all of the dreamers and doers who are bringing this continued growth to a reality. Can’t wait to sail again one day soon 😊🚢⚓️❤️

As a hotel development professional, a great project kick-off is the most critical meeting of the entire project. It is a time to establish trust, align values, reaffirm goals, etc. A phrase I use at every project kickoff is an old proverb "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Lets go FAR"! Congrats to DCL and Meyer Werft. I look forward to watching the collaboration!

Now, all that’s needed are enthusiasts who recognize the engineering achievement as a valuable foundation, but also see the potential in the cruise industry to embrace new technologies, foster collaborations, prioritize sustainability, and identify trends early on to appeal to a broad audience.
