The very mistake the relatives did led to her sudden demise 2 __________________________________________ This is the continuation of the story about the woman who passed on painfully because the family could not give her strict attention. As I indicated, because of what they did,I didn’t want to even accept the home physiotherapy thing but with my passion for humanity, I accepted. On that black Saturday, somewhere around 5pm I flashed on a poster on the son’s status and I decided to view it well only to see the mom has passed away and her one week was just two days away. I asked what happened, and he told me she was rushed to the hospital again when her breathing ceased and that was it. She couldn’t make it. Sad! But I swallowed my words. It was all their fault because had it not been the fall, their mom was very good in my hands then until everything we achieved reversed thereafter the fall. This story should enlighten us; relatives, caregivers to prioritize our role in the healthcare journey of any family member. Our ignorance of their treatment, can result to a problem we will forever regret. As therapists, we must also involve relatives or caregivers in patient care, clarifying their role at home to them so they will handle that with much more priority and attention. #physiotherapy #advocacy #thrillingstory #physiotherapist #Role #Patientcare

Years ago, when I advised a patient about his oral self-care, he replied, “I think I need some self-esteem for that.” I was speechless! I have since learned that individuals with low self-esteem are often depressed and feel unworthy of proper care, and this can manifest as poor self-care and even risky behaviors. If only I knew then what I know now! After reflecting on that conversation and gaining more knowledge, I have more tools to empower patients, boost their self-efficacy and help them to realize they deserve the best care. ░P░l░e░a░s░e░ ░h░e░l░p░ ░m░e░.░ Why are these words so difficult for many of us to say?     I want to share a quick story. This week, my family received some uncompromising news about a family member who is sick, and of course, I want to fix everything and everyone. This diagnosis is out of my scope, so I took a chance and sent a message to my fantastic nursing/medical group tribe. I asked for #help. I am so grateful to Christian Costazza for setting up this group and leading us humbly.   The most beautiful angel, Rochelle, immediately read her scan and labs and called me! Not only did she allow me to sleep for 8 hours, but she assured me there was #hope.     Isn't this what we are all seeking and need, #hope?     In #addiction medicine, this is key for my patients and their families. They need hope that their loved one can recover, the patient needs the hope that they can survive without the use of a substance, and communities need hope in their providers that the patients are receiving ethical care.  C𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!
