Communitarian technologist and core steward of Terran Collective and Hylo, working for a world where all beings can thrive

The solstice marked the launch of the BioFi Project and the book Bioregional Financing Facilities: Reimagining Finance to Regenerate Our Planet. I am happy to be joining the BioFi Project team, a collective dedicated to supporting bioregional organizing teams around the world to turn the recommendations in the book into action through designing, building, and implementing Bioregional Financing Facilities (BFFs). BFFs are a new type of financial institution designed to drive the decentralization of financial resource governance, the design of project portfolios for systemic change, and the transition to a regenerative economy. They have the potential to become the connective tissue between financial resources and on-the-ground regenerators. BFFs can achieve this by enabling integrated capital raised from a variety of sources to flow to aggregated portfolios of systemically coordinated and supported regenerative projects on the ground. The book lays out templates for four types of BFFs: Bioregional Trusts, Bioregional Venture Studios, Bioregional Investment Companies, and Bioregional Banks. If you are interested in bringing a BFF to your bioregion, please fill out the expression of interest form on the BioFi Project website. If you are interested in engaging in peer-to-peer learning and collaboration around BFFs, sign up to join the BioFi Community of Practice on Hylo (https://lnkd.in/ghM7j5qk)! One of the most important things to say about this work is that it is woven from many long, diverse threads. The book acknowledges the foundation of, “five hundred years of anticolonial resistance and decolonial creativity; movements for economic, ecological, and social justice and liberation; and the inspired efforts of peoples around the world organizing autonomously for the regeneration of the biosphere and their local-global communities. It is informed by persistent innovation in the fields of economics, finance, ecology, evolutionary biology, and systems theory.” BFFs were born out of and can support the web of interdependent efforts of the broader regenerative movement. We believe that everyone has a role to play in catalyzing bioregional regeneration and we hope that you will join us on this journey. #bioregionalism #biofi #regeneration #biodiversity #regenerativeeconomy #decentralization #investinlife "Our institutions are no longer serving us. We must give birth to institutions that support a new kind of economy, a new kind of philosophy, a new kind of ontology, a new way of being on this planet. And Bioregional Financing Facilities can play a critical role in supporting that transition.”  - Lynne Twist www.biofi.earth

Cool! Glad to hear you’ve joined the team, bringing along the participatory potential of Hylo, Tibet Sprague. Was great to meet you recently with Thomas Schindler at a HELIOGENESIS Town Hall- exploring the resonant pathways you’re been forging. Attended an info session today, with John Fullerton and Samantha Power describing the proposed building blocks and aspirations for BFFs. The Executive Summary and full PDF paper authored by Samatha and Leon Seefeld, reflecting the input and wisdom of so many people, offer an excellent foundation to guide and help shape decentralized, context based and placed sourced bioregional funding navigation. Lots of challenges AND potential to unlock needed bioregional funding flows and access in ways that “live up to” and “live into” life-affirming patterns - aligned with the deep spirit of regeneration. Many of us look forward to supporting this ongoing collaborative (un)learning journey. 🙏🏼

Yay! So excited to co-create with you, Tibet. And so excited to host the BioFi Community of Practice on Hylo. Hopefully more tools for Bioregional Organizing teams and BFF teams to come soon!
