The win in fortress Toronto yesterday for Don Stewart and the Conservative Party of Canada is indeed a fantastic result and a damning indictment of the record of Justin Trudeau, the Liberal Party of Canada • Parti Libéral du Canada and a very personal swipe at the divisive politics of Chrystia Freeland who spent a lot of time in the riding campaigning for her former chief of staff Leslie Church. So now, I’d like to ask the CPC: ”Congrats! What next?” I’m weird, I know. Besides keeping my eyes on the hockey game last night, I was glued to CBC’s coverage of the election even though I’m in Calgary and half country removed from from last night’s action. The CBC coverage followed the prescribed formula, but honestly, it was “somewhat” more balanced than expected. The talking heads spoke extensively about this byelection being a barometer of Canadians’ attitudes towards the L/NDP coalition and the result underscored that point precisely. They spoke about voters sending a message. Message sent! They also focused an inordinate amount of time on the likability of the leaders. They agreed that though all of the leaders are generally unlikable, Pierre Poilievre was particularly disliked. Though certainly this topic of coverage was anticipated, the coverage confirmed that the viciousness and the open vitriol directed towards Poilievre is 💯going to continue up to and throughout the next election campaign. So, what to do? Simply stated, it is time to pivot, to stop relying on the strategy of all-out attack and work towards messaging that establishes a hopeful CPC vision of Canada and, in doing so, proactively take the arrows out of the enemys’ quiver. They need to point to the CPC Policy Declaration (for those that haven’t read it, this document is very good! I will link to it in the comments), especially the sections related to healthcare, abortion and social issues and reinforce the fact that Poilievre and the CPC are decidedly centrist and not in any way the far-right zealots that the other parties and the media want them to be portrayed as. They need to openly and transparently censure any CPC MP or candidate that speaks of topics like abortion in ways that contradict the Policy Declaration - a declaration that each one of the MP’s and candidates must endorse in order to stand as a CPC member. The attack strategy has worked, the tide of opinion is decidedly moving pro-CPC and anti-L/NDP. In hockey terms, much like the Panthers last night, with the lead established, it’s time to start playing defence, protect that lead and bring home the next election. Poilievre himself employed this strategy in the leadership campaign when he went hard at Charest and Brown, established a dominating lead, then softened his messaging mid-campaign to focus on his brand, his philosophy, his vision for Canada. This exact strategy would serve the CPC well in the lead up to the next election. 🇨🇦 https://lnkd.in/gvYaub38

Just to reinforce my “weirdness”, I read all of this stuff. And this stuff is good! Here’s the link to the CPC Policy Declaration. https://cpcassets.conservative.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/23175001/990863517f7a575.pdf

Trudeau is like a scared cat, or cornered dog. The misinformation, fear monguering, fabrications will be ramped up towards Pierre and the CPC. The Liberals will stoop to an even lower level of dirty politics likely never seen before in Canada. Freelands vile venomous attacks on anyone who does not agree with her views policy or interpretive reality of her economic results are just a glimpse on what’s to come. She will be a poor loser; and unparliamentary in her language and conduct. There is no doubt the CPC led by Polivierre; has a strategic fiscal plan costed out; with clear actions milestones and forecasts. This next year and four months. Will be like nothing else in Canadian modern politics.

The "Poilievre is unlikeable" thing is just another slogan started in the Liberal war room when it became apparent that PP, as the new Conservative leader, was stepping up his defense of Canadians by calling out Trudeau for every single one of his unending transgressions against our nation. Of course he's unlikeable - because they don't like to be challenged that way. Rosie Barton and others obligingly picked up the line and have never let it go. To those who stand for Canada and against the incursion of the radical left, there is nothing more likeable.

Discernment. Most Canadians lack it in spades, to be contradictory. If Pierre is unlikable, what is Trudeau? Insert laugh track here... Complacency. Conservatives are famous for thinking the outcome is in the bag, and sitting on their duff instead of voting. That would literally be insane to do so. PP is not the answer long term, radical systemic change to severely punish corruption, and provide complete thorough and public transparency and accountability, fincancials, who decides what, and where that money goes to which unions, contractors, and corporations, and a Triple E senate, and equal representation, is the answer. I don't see that happening anytime soon. That said, PP is a much needed bandaid....

This is great news for Canadians. A win in downtown GTA, is commendable. Now CPC and the leader, MUST adhere to their promises of accountability, no favour back to friends, transparency and honest work. Keep Canada and the Canadians on top of your mind all the times. Their happiness is CPC success. Thanks 🙏
