When you lose a critical team member or role, the problem is not necessarily the loss of the person. The problem is the loss of the skillset they used in the role, and the way in which they used that skillset. They were likely uniquely connecting their cognitive and technical skills, and using specific behavioral skills to activate the cognitive and technical. If you can analyze and breakdown the skills the individual had and how they used those skills to achieve outstanding success in the role, you have a map for the next steps and for ongoing success. Company culture. It's something that is talked about so often with all different sized organizations. From my experience, very little actually live out the "culture" they preach. It's something that if it was really established and lived out, could truly change your employees work (and personal) lives, and create a much more cohesive environment for the better.
