While telling stories can lead to empathy, the act can also create barriers between the speaker and the listener. Storysharing, by contrast, is reciprocal. We believe that if you want to connect with someone, you have to be open to sharing a part of yourself as well. Making sense of each other by showing vulnerability helps us build compassion and break down barriers, rather than creating new ones.

Are we really a diverse society? 👫🧑🤝🧑👭👬
Diversity is a concept and an idea that is currently in vogue. There is no sector of society that is not working towards it in some way, from private enterprise to public policy, from the arts to the media.
So, for Anti-Hate Speech Day, we would like to share with you this documentary, which perfectly reflects our vision of what a truly diverse society should look like.
Do you share it? You can watch the full documentary here

Gateway infrastructure describes the infrastructure needed in communities to support people to maintain existing relationships, and to facilitate access to, and enable the smooth running of, services, groups and activities through which people develop new connections.
Natasha Reid from MATTER SPACE SOUL's recent ‘Loneliness and the Built Environment’ 5-minute film calls to attention the under-recognised public health crisis of social isolation, and the urgent need to shape cities, places and spaces to support connectedness.

Just came across a profoundly moving Oscar-winning short film depicting the life of a deaf child raised in a household with hearing parents. It stirred a range of emotions within me – awareness, anger, and a deep desire to take action.
Did you know that 78% of deaf children are sent to school without any support, where they often feel isolated and powerless? This statistic hit me hard. It's a stark reminder of the challenges faced by so many individuals in our society.
As leaders, each of us possesses a unique history and a set of skills that have brought us to where we are today. We have the power to leverage these skills to create positive change and shape new realities.
We all have our causes, our passions that ignite a fire within us. Whether it's advocating for the deaf community, promoting equality, or tackling environmental issues – there's something that calls to us, urging us to make a difference.
I invite you to heed that calling. Take action. Lead by example. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and create a more inclusive and compassionate world.
I've included a link to the short film in the comments below. Let's watch it together and continue the conversation on how we can drive positive change. #MakeADifference#LeadWithPurpose

Connection to Culture in the child protection sector is more then a flag in a placement, it’s more then acknowledging their cultural heritage on child story, it’s more then a basic cultural care plan. Culture is identity and belonging it is to be nurtured and embedded with family, community their day to day lives.
Our children lose themselves, everything has been taken from them that they know. Culture in CPS needs to be more then a token gesture. While our children might pull away as their world and families have been blown apart, care is not for life. Making connections and staying connected is imperative, so when our kids do leave care they have those connections that are life long.
Culture is identity, belonging, healing and home. 🇫🇯 “Identity is not negotiable”
Summer's here, and the news is full of stories about young people getting into trouble. Cue the hand-wringing and the endless debates about tackling antisocial behaviour.
But let's be very clear - We already know what works!!
🗣️Quality youth work makes a massive difference to what young people do or don’t do with their time. The problem? It's missing in most local areas.
⁉️So instead of asking, "What can we do?" Or “why is this happening?”
💡We should be asking, "WHY aren't we doing what we know works?"
❤️ This brilliant film from Mentivity and Spotify shows just how transformative youth work is for local communities.
It's time to stop overanalysing and start demanding quality youth work provision for all young people.
📣We need more youth work, in more places, reaching more young people.
Well done, Sayce! This is spot on. 👏🏾❤️
