One time back in 97, my friend Marc and I went to buy tickets to see Radiohead at the Wiltern Theater in LA. Back in '97, you didn't just login to Ticketmaster and buy tickets, you had to go to weird little customer service counters of department stores, or MusicPlus or something of the sort. GenX where you at? ✊🏼 We showed up early anticipating a huge line, because, well... Radiohead. There were just two bodies in front of us, and no line really ever formed, so we scored second row seats for an amazing show. Now, Marc and I didn't plan that - we expected the worst, showed up early, and tada! Presto mojo. To the strategic marketing mind, that's a Blue Ocean. No competition. Showing up to your own corner of the universe where the throngs of competitors trying to score tickets have all slept in, or were lined up at the wrong weird department store. The world is your oyster. "Competition is a low vibration stimulus" ~ Rick Ruben When you find your brand looking a lot like every other brand in your industry, you aren't 'fitting in.' You've become the status quo. Oof. You're fighting over the same 3% of the audience that is ready to buy. And if you're not the industry leader, you're not winning. If this is you, you might consider a few things. Namely, innovation, creating a new category, or rebranding. If you want to win more, you've got to stop playing by those same old rules. Weverse Company tells Billboard that the chart-topping star will join the platform on Sunday (July 21), adding to a roster that includes BTS, BLACKPINK, JVKE, NCT 127, (G)I-DLE, Lauv, YOASOBI, Conan Gray, AKB48 and thuy. In joining the platform, Grande will have the ability to post messages and content to her own dedicated community, hold livestreams for members, read personalized fan letters, upload exclusive media content, share disappearing messages, and utilize the popular Weverse Shop, which sold more than 18 million pieces of merchandise last year to fans in more than 198 countries.
