TLDR: https://jonpugh.photos/ is up! I actually want people to see this. Almost zero interactions. A machine decides how much to promote you. Your visibility is determined by a robot. Your success is strongly correlated with your visibility. Therefore, the machines choose who gets more opportunities for success. When I post something that's actually important to me to share, it gets nothing.
ICYMI I am also a photographer. Last night I had the absolute honor of shooting the iconic Kim Gordon. I cannot begin to describe what it was like to be in he presence. She has once again redefined what music can be. https://adobe.ly/3XlDNRq

Art is what lasts. It lasts because it expresses truth and inspires our own introspection. The fates of the old man and the beautiful woman are on canvas and fixed forever, but we are alive. We are capable of changing our own fate according to our efforts and our desires. Did COVID ruin this power of art? Read here: https://loom.ly/F9A7k5k

"Gates of Eden" by Bob Dylan is a visual and lyrical exploration that contrasts an ideal, uncorrupted state of existence with the flawed realities of the human state. Dylan presents this through a series of vivid images and characters, singing about institutions that are blind and deaf, the clash of truth and purity, disillusionment, moral decay, and failure. The song does not have a traditional chorus, instead featuring a series of verses that paint a compelling portrait of a biblical-american surreal apocalyptic world reminding me of Hieronymus Bosch’s "The Garden of Earthly Delights." This 1480 3-paneled painting is a highly detailed painting full of strange creatures that depict both paradise and hellscape and the thin line between the two. The song's impact was very much similar to Bosch’s painting which I discovered at the age of fourteen. I remember associating it with climate disaster. Together with, in ‘The Waste Land,’ poet TS. Eliot. London as a city of decay and despair, yet also a place ripe for potential rebirth and redemption. Through voices, he exposes the spiritual and psychological desolation of modern life, exploring themes of disconnection and existential dread. Carl Jung said: ‘Anyone who perceives his shadow and his light simultaneously sees himself from two sides and thus gets in the middle.’ Ideally, what should be happening in society. At times, it seems to me as though the influence of religion and mythology is overlooked and underestimated in contemporary art, which I think has its good sides. However, religious theological imagery continues to bleed into our culture in significant ways. Belief, at least for me, is not necessary for the impact of these symbols, much like folk stories and legends. Tower of Babel and the fall of Babylon resonate with me, depicting humanity's relentless pursuit of progress and greatness. How far can we grow, until the tower collapses, like many roman empires before us? https://lnkd.in/edt65gj3
