I went from wearing corporate clothes to athleisure wear, as my work attire. My closet was a case study for identity confusion. Like it or not, looking and sounding confident is crucial for women in the business world for several reasons: 1. Commanding Presence: Confidence exudes authority and presence, making it easier for women to command attention and respect in professional settings. 2. Assertiveness: Confidence enables women to assert their ideas, opinions, and contributions without hesitation, ensuring their voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes. 3. Career Advancement: Confidence often correlates with ambition and leadership qualities, which are essential for climbing the corporate ladder and securing career advancement opportunities. 4. Networking and Relationship Building: Confident women are more likely to engage in networking and relationship-building activities, building connections and alliances that can be beneficial for career growth and opportunities. 5. Overcoming Stereotypes: Unfortunately, women in business still face stereotypes and biases. Confidence can help women challenge these stereotypes and assert their competence and capabilities confidently. 6. However, we need to start somewhere and help women feel and look more confident. Therefore, I'm teaming up with stylist, Dzovig van Kleef, for a special workshop on this topic. We're focusing on helping women to refine both their fashion and communication styles. This will only be a two-hour workshop (May 1st at 10:30am in Abu Dhabi) and we can't perform miracles, but we can set women on a more confident-looking path.
