😲 Surprise!! 😲 In what may or may not come as a shock, the family and I have been quietly planning a move to Australia for about three years. Today we are very happy to announce our move to Sydney! I'm sure you have questions, so here's a little FAQ we've prepared: Really? Yes. We had a long stay in Sydney as part of the 2021 covid lockdowns. We loved it and started asking ourselves why it was that we didn't live there. The people are lovely, we have a lot of family there, it's very safe, the food is next level and the beaches are extraordinary. It's just a better place to live than pretty much everywhere else. But, what about work? I've been sitting on this news for a while, but happy to report that I'll be running the Product team at Kayo/Binge for Foxtel. For the uninitiated, Kayo is everything sports and has been one of our favorite streaming apps for a while. US folks will be particularly envious of Kayo having every US game from every league all in one app. Binge is an entertainment content app including local shows, US shows from brands like NBCU as well as being the home for HBO in Australia. I'll also have responsibility for Program Management, UX and helping with new advertising programs. Really excited to join this team at their Artarmon location. A HUGE thank you to all the folks who gave advice, made introductions, gave recommendations. This network of ex-co-workers and associates was nothing less than astounding in both help & kindness, going above and beyond to allow me to set up a new network of industry friends in Sydney. And those new Aussie friends were incredibly welcoming giving further introductions, advice and taking their time for meals, coffees & beers as I quizzed them with questions. I can not overstate how lucky I feel for all the assistance received and how far out of their way folks went for me. Thank you all so much. Wait, Finn just graduated high-school? Another poorly kept secret is that while Finn applied and was accepted to a number of US colleges, his first choice was the University of Sydney. He was accepted and will study a combination of marketing and psychology. With a campus some describe as Hogwarts, U Syd. is currently the #18 ranked university in the world (just ahead of Princeton and Yale) and Finn loves the fact that he'll get his bachelors in 3 years while not starting until late February (that's right, Finn has a 9 month summer break). With me as the exception, his ancestors have attended U.Syd back into the 1800s. So what's the catch? We have a ridiculously handsome 1yo golden retriever named Bowie who needs an incredibly hard-to-get visa to move to Australia. We are 5 months into a 9 month process to get him on a Qantas cargo plane to Melbourne and have teams of agents working for us in both countries. Part of Team Blaxland ...that is to say Jenny...will need to stay behind to help him through the gauntlet of vet visits, medical tests and quarantine checks. But he'll get there eventually.

Well played, Sir! Especially the parts where you preempted any opportunity for me to: 1. Plead my case as your next adopted "ward", and 2. Leaving no room in the luggage for stow-aways. My earliest days at Comcast are cemented by your energy #cim. The fact that you have such a supportive and diverse support system is a bit of a testament to your ability to connect and inspire. I wish you and the entire clan (furry ones included) a wonderful journey and an amazing adventure. Truly must have been a stressful but spectacular process Congratulations!

Brilliant story. Congratulations on the big move on so many fronts. I can admit moving to a new country is hard, much harder than it should be, but just take your time and enjoy the journey. It sounds like everything is coming into place.

So happy for you and the whole family. Congratulations! I was honored to book end my time at Comcast HQ with two of my favorite Aussies— Tom Blaxland on my team at the beginning and the incomparable Rebecca Heap as my fearless leader at the end. Nice to see you both back home.

Congrats Tom, I am so happy for you and the family! You are one of those extraordinary leaders that so many aspire to be like or wish they had as a manager. You inspire those around you and see the best in people. Your many talents won’t go to waste in what sounds like an exciting role/company. I love that you found a way to continue to watch Philly sports too. Go birds! Ps, we need to do brunch or drinks next time you are in NYC or Philly area.
