Last night, Oura was one of the first advertisers during a presidential debate. This year’s debate was a break from the norm in a number of ways and we were excited to be a part of testing and learning something new. No matter where you fall when it comes to politics, there’s no doubt that last night was a momentous event that will set the stage for the next four years in this country. And it showed up in Oura Members’ data: 1 hour into last night’s debate, the average beats per minute was significantly trending upward, tacking on an additional 5 beats per minute on average. Typically we expect to see heart rate levels drop sharply in the evening, but we saw them stay at an almost daytime-like level for the duration of the debate. Beyond heart rate, we saw dropped HRV rates (by nearly 5%) by the end of the debate, possibly indicating higher levels of physiological stress and lower recovery. We’ve seen a shift in Oura’s member demographics in the past few years. Oura members are not just young, biohacker-types. Oura is for anyone who wants to improve their health—busy moms, entrepreneurs, first-time marathon runners, and folks who are recovering from illness or injury. Given the results we’re seeing in the data and the conversations happening today across the world, it’s clear that tools like Oura Ring are more important than ever to help people manage their stress, find balance, and live their healthiest lives. We’re leading a shift from a “tracker” to being a tool that understands you and your baselines, gives your body a voice, and even predicts where you might be in the future. Features like Cardiovascular Age and Symptom Radar look beyond today and help people optimize for longevity. We can’t change what we don’t understand and accurate, continuous data is the key to understanding yourself better. If we want to see real change - whether that’s in your health or in our country - we have to engage, understand, and act. #WithOura Lastly, a special shoutout to Oura's Marketing and PR teams who made it all happen!
Wearable is gr8 but only if you do the job it tells you to do! I have used my ring since 2019 and for my clients but not all did get the effect they wanted, cos they didnt do the job it told you but if I told them they did.
Fantastic data. Thank you for sharing these important insights that help us be more proactive in our approach to managing our own health.
I was thinking about truly impactful consumer brands and products the other day. I’ve been an Oura user for the past three years, and think it’s the best new and novel product since the invention of the iPhone. Kudos to you and your team 👏🤝
It’s fantastic to see the growth from concept to now. It’s very exciting to think where all of the remote diagnostics market will be in another 10-20 years
Amazing strides and insights on the impact of the debate ones stress level and psychological safety.
Seeing the Oura AD was the best part of the entire debate let's be honest here.
Oura is a #Finnish invention made famous at the Biohacker Summit - let’s hope it keeps the same integrity.
I love the heartbeat monitoring stats during the Presidential debate Tom. On mass this data is a very powerful indicator for engagement, I wonder if the data can be used to predict outcomes. Very cool tech.
Tom fantastic. Health is Wealth !! More than ever health is the most valuable currency 💵, fueled ⛽️ by data 📈 and change of behaviour. My vision is that wearables can change the world 🌍- certainly our health world.

2moI love this! I started using Oura ring in May of last year and it was shocking to learn all the habits I had that were directly negatively impacting my sleep and well being... all of which I was completely unaware of! I am now at the point where, even though it is so fast, I hate charging my Oura because I don't want to miss any data! 😆
