In my head, I paraphrased this research as saying “Relax! AI doesn’t even think your job is worth stealing!”. Being a bit less flippant, this research from MIT concludes that the rate of job loss to AI will be slower than many fear due to the poor economics of implementing and maintaining an AI to handle jobs requiring any degree of visual analysis. “…the MIT researchers sought to move beyond what they characterize as “task-based” comparisons and assess how feasible it is that AI will perform certain roles — and how likely businesses are to actually replace workers with AI tech.” “Contrary to what one… might expect, the MIT researchers found that the majority of jobs previously identified as being at risk of AI displacement aren’t, in fact, “economically beneficial” to automate — at least at present.” https://lnkd.in/g97gZBxa

#AI won't disrupt #jobs as quickly as previously forecast according to MIT researchers. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, and it definitely doesn't mean its the best or most economical. My advice - start small with #AI by using #RPA. Identify tasks than can more easily be automated by an algorithmic system. Use #AI to augment human efficiency and dial-in from there. --- "In conducting this study, the researchers surveyed workers to understand what an AI system would have to accomplish, task-wise, to fully replace their jobs. There is unease around the prospect of AI making people’s roles redundant, and ultimately threatening people’s jobs. And this unease is growing, with recent research from global consultant Gallup revealing that 22% of workers in the US worry that technology will make their job obsolete, up from 15% the year before. We must help employees understand the realities of moving towards a more digital business and this starts with leadership.

The debate has begun. Will AI cost people their jobs by eliminating some tasks and procedures? MIT just came out with a paper on the topic, yet per this article it is being challenged. That always happens when innovation is the topic, right? Nobody can totally predict the future. Here's an article which might help shed some light on the current debate. If you'll read past the headlines, much of the picture is "it depends." It's going to keep evolving.
