Interesting data shared by The Institute for Family Studies given the focus on making child care more affordable: In a survey by Bipartisan Policy Center, more than half of using informal child care said it was because using a formal child care center was unappealing to them, rather than because it was unaffordable or otherwise inaccessible. And other surveys, IFS notes, have found that center-based care is the least appealing form of child care for working moms, with the most appealing form being splitting care between the parents (followed by one parent working part time or not at all). Across the country, parents are being forced out of the workforce due to difficulties in finding affordable child care.
