Today, we celebrate service, sacrifice, and selflessness. We can never bring back our fallen soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines but we can honor them in our daily actions. May the spirit of Memorial Day remind us of the price of freedom and inspire us to live with gratitude, kindness and compassion.

If you are in a leadership position, here is a kind reminder to appreciate everyone on your team. While you’re at it, appreciate your neighbors, your friends, your family, and every day that you wake up and enjoy all the little things in life that we tend to take for granted. I’m thankful for all the blessings and opportunities in my life and for those around me who motivate me, have my back and encourage me every day to stay the course and be a better person. Choose kindness.

After a great weekend of celebrating Memorial Day in Naples, boating and barbecuing, a good friend invited me to join him to visit his dad and other veterans at a VA nursing home to spend time with them and hear some of their stories. I have to say it was the highlight of my weekend. I met Korean war vets, Vietnam vets and WWII vets. They were so grateful for us taking the time to be with them. It was truly an honor! 🇺🇸

Every day there is a teaching and learning opportunity. Today at 7:45AM via text with my son: Son: The teacher is not even in class. She’s very late and you and mom insist I come early to class. Me: Will you say the same thing when your boss is very late or doesn’t show up for work, a meeting or a project? Like a wiseman once said, “IT DOESN’T MATTER.” You want to be successful in life… you SHOW UP. Always be on time, which should be 5-10 mns earlier than expected. If you are late for any reason, LET PEOPLE KNOW and apologize. Also, remember life happens. Stay hungry, stay humble and always be a gentleman. Son: You are right dad.
