With courts going into clubs, backyards, homeowners’ associations, and tournament complexes, there can be no doubt that we’re in the midst of a pickleball boom. The only obstruction to all this growth is the number of courts available to all those players. According to the Sports and Fitness Industry Association and Pickleheads (SFIA’s industry partner in research), there is a definite shortage of courts. Today, April 1, 2024, USA Pickleball announced that April is National Pickleball Month! #PickleballMonth https://lnkd.in/e-gkwkuE Using USA Pickleball standards as guidance, pickleball ratings are scaled from 1.0 to 5.5+, where 1.0 is a beginner and 5.5 or higher is a player with professional playing abilities. Below is the USA Pickleball Player Skill Ratings rubric that provides specific skills needed to achieve "beginner" levels of player rating. 1.0 to 2.0 Skill Rating This player is just starting to play pickleball and has no other sports background. Minimal understanding of rules of the game. 2.5 Skill Rating This player has limited experience. Can sustain a short rally with players of equal ability. Basic ability to keep score.
