With German Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE), Oman LNG has signed a legally sound term-sheet agreement to deliver 0.4 million metric tonnes of LNG annually (mtpa) beginning in 2026. A much-appreciated move by Oman LNG, since it appears that the 4-year deal intends to strengthen the alliance between Oman LNG and global energy companies.   Oman LNG has agreements in place to deliver LNG to a number of foreign companies this year. In terms of renewable energy, Europe is at the forefront. Other January agreements with Oman LNG include a ten-year contract with French TotalEnergies. There was also a term sheet with Shell International Trading Middle East FZE for the offtake of 0.8 mtpa of LNG for ten years, which would be Shell's first long-term offtake from Oman.   Let's see the possibility that it may also be useful globally for the energy requirements of nations in transition. Exciting News! In the oil and gas industry, I'm thrilled to share that Morocco is set to launch a tender this summer for the construction of a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the Nador West Med port, as announced by the energy ministry's head of oil and gas. The project is expected to reach financial close in 2025, with construction, commissioning, and commercial operations scheduled for 2026.The LNG terminal will be integrated into an existing pipeline network, enabling Morocco to import 0.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of LNG annually from Spanish terminals—sufficient to power two small electricity production plants. Additionally, plans are underway to connect the pipeline to emerging gas fields in both eastern and western regions of the country. Over the past twelve months, the Middle East’s oil and gas heavyweights – Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar – have accelerated their involvement across Africa’s energy value chain. With plans to invest up to $25 billion in Africa by 2030 through its Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a long-term partner to the continent and leading integrated developments across Africa’s oil and gas value chain. Last December, the UAE signed an agreement with Morocco for the development of the Africa-Atlantic gas pipeline, transporting Nigerian gas to North Africa, then on to Europe. QatarEnergy has been playing an active role in the continent’s latest hydrocarbon discoveries – notably, offshore Namibia, where the company holds stakes in three exploration licenses. Eco Orinduik has informed Guyana’s Minister of Natural Resources of its intention to enter the second phase of the second renewal period of the #offshore #Orinduik license. TOQAP Guyana, the joint entity held 60:40 by TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy, has relinquished its 25% interest and will not participate in the next phase. That interest will now transfer to Eco Guyana. Subject to government approvals, Eco will remain operator of the license with a 40% stake, the remaining 60% held by Eco Orinduik. The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) natural gas project, located between Senegal and Mauritania, has been delayed until the first quarter of 2024, according to British global oil and gas major bp. The announcement of Phase 2 of the project was made in February this year, with an expected production of up to 3 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa). Kosmos Energy and bp signed a co-development agreement for the two reserves in 2016 with bp taking a majority share as operator and Kosmos holding stakes of 30% in Ahmeyim and 28% in Tortue. #oilandgas #mauritania #oilfield #flng #oilindustry #economy

There are projects already nearing completion, such as the Tortue floating LNG project off the coast of Senegal and Mauritania, which will next year add 2.4 million tons in annual production capacity to the global total. Yet there are projects that have been stumbling along the way, such as two facilities in Mozambique—Rovuma LNG and Mozambique LNG—where security issues have delayed work on the LNG facilities. According to Wood Mac’s Thom, “Rovuma and Mozambique LNG central to a potential doubling of African LNG supply by 2035, there is a risk that exports could flatline longer term if these projects fail to materialize.” https://lnkd.in/gVSj8pjK
