Do we even celebrate work anniversaries anymore? This week marked 3 years since joining Elevate Global having been previously made redundant due to pandemic cuts.  As we all know it was a scary, unpredictable time for all 3 years ago, and work as we knew it had changed indefinitely. The events world grounded to a sharp hard no thank you and marketing became a bad word, it was a tough tough world out there. Joining Elevate to lead on a huge government piece (1200 staff per day) for a 4 month project turning into a 14 month project turning into leading what is currently the largest staffing project (2000+ staff per day) for the biggest sporting event taking place in Paris in 2024 is absolutely my career highlight.  Whilst I’m certainly not thanking or celebrating the terrible pandemic for being where I am today, I am pondering on the way the universe works in mysterious ways to lead one thing to another and so on.  Had I not been made redundant I wouldn’t be here… The other flip to the anniversary pondering coin is how long people stay in work placements overall… Statistically people stay in their jobs for 4.1 years on average in the UK and I’ve never been less than 3+ years anywhere without a budget cut being the exit reason, perhaps being a taurus who needs to be grounded has moulded that longevity. Obviously sprinkle in amazing leading MDs and friends for life colleagues is paramount to the days you spend more at work than at home so much more enjoyable. Accordingly to tradition of marriage, leather is the anniversary gift given - so Elevate France I’m awaiting my leathery gift in this wonderful marriage with more years to come 😁
