It was an awesome way to come together as a community and celebrate the spirit of independence. 🗽 This year we were honored to include a reading of the historic Petition of Freedom submitted to the NH Legislature in 1779 by Whipple’s own enslaved person, Prince Whipple, and others seeking to obtain their individual liberty. 📜 ✨Having "General Whipple" and "Prince Whipple" with us, along with the Piscataqua Rangers Jr. Fife & Drum Corps, Capt. 🎥 This is how we returned an iconic symbol of one of the most notable US Navy shipwrecks 107 years after it sunk... Earlier this year, our Salvage and Marine Operations (SALMO) team recovered a World War I destroyers bell near the Isles of Scilly using a state-of-the-art remotely operated underwater vehicle built in Yorkshire. Following its recovery, we had the pleasure of presenting the bell of USS Jacob Jones to Admiral James W. Kilby, the US Navy’s Vice Chief of Naval Operations, in a ceremony at Lancaster House, London. The bell that was salvaged is intended for display in the future new National Museum of the US Navy. 🇺🇸

Here's another sneak peek into the content in the National Chief's Mess allows us to share the history and heritage of Chief Petty Officers with our Members. This overview of the Navy Memorial's Chief's Bell, prominently located in the Delbert D. Black National Chief's Mess, was donated to us in commemoration of the centennial celebration of the Chief’s Birthday - Aptil 1, 1993. The bell was designed and cast by then HTC Kathleen Hansen, who later retired as a Command Master Chief. Watch below to learn more about how this bell is unique and a lasting tribute to all Chief Petty Officers. Canada used to be a small county but with -40m people we can no longer afford to have a small town attitude to national security Last week the UK Royal Navy introduced its sixth Astute-class attack submarine named HMS Agamemnon. This state-of-the-art nuclear-powered submarine is set to be launched later this year. This is vessel 6 of 7 being introduced into service to protect UK national security. There is very little that surface vessels or land assets can do to detect or neutralise such a fleet. Canada should follow Australia into an upgraded AUKUS agrement to reinforce like minded democratic institutions. Canada has the talent and resources to buildout a world class submarine fleet worthy of this great country. The Astute submarines are built in the North-west of England in a not so small town called Barrow-in-Furness and the resources, skills and experience are well within the capabilities of any of our sea facing provinces. As the Astute program winds down in the UK perhaps a commercial alliance to build Astutes in Canada is necessary?
The Royal Navy's latest Astute Class submarine has been officially named Agamemnon at our Submarines site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
