While we are searching for the last drops of oil, Australia's first hydrogen-powered car is on the market, with as many filling stations in just 5 minutes. The car travels 900 kilometres with a full fill and cleans the air as it moves. For the first time, hydrogen fuel cell technology is applied mass on a commercialized car, which above all allows it to have such significant autonomy, with very low charging times. This is the Hyundai Nexo, a small-cylinder car that beats all car manufacturers in the world and sets a sustainability record, with a load of 6.27 kilograms of hydrogen, purifying 449,100 liters of air during the journey (as much as the breathing consumption of 33 people per one) All day) and it emits only water from its exhaust pipe. This car doesn't produce CO2, or other polluting emissions; you just have to think that an equivalent vehicle, with traditional combustion engine, over the same distance, emits about 126 kg of CO2. The hydrogen engine enters the car market like this and aims alongside the electric one among the sustainable mobility solutions the world is adopting. Hyundai thus becomes the first world car house to produce a hydrogen-fueled vehicle for the market. The car mounts a system of hydrogen fuel cells that, to generate electricity, passes the gas through a membrane structure where it meets the air taken from the outside environment, a process that powers an electric motor. The excess generated electricity, including the energy accumulated during braking, is stored in a lithium-ion battery. Nexo takes 5 mins to refill. The first nation where the car was put on sale was Australia, where the first filling stations were also built. A true vision of a sustainable future.

New takes on the old tech? Plenty of life left in internal-combustion engines too? Future is Hybrid? A bold move from the Japanese 🏯 auto majors to preserve the internal combustion engine (ICE). These automakers are (seriously !) exploring alternative fuels like hydrogen ♒, biomass-derived biodiesel ⛽ and focusing on electrified hybrid technologies to achieve carbon neutrality without fully abandoning ICEs. Leading the charge is Toyota, which calls the strategy "Engine Reborn" and continues to develop e-fuels and hydrogen-powered vehicles; while Mazda scaling its engines with 100% biodiesel. All this to offer consumers more eco-friendly options beyond the EVs, and keeping traditional engines relevant in the green transition. Toyota harnesses sustainable energy from liquid hydrogen Summary: Toyota has developed a racing car fuelled by liquid hydrogen, an alternative sustainable fuel source, marking the first such use in the automotive industry. This expands upon their previous gaseous hydrogen fuelled H2 Corolla. When burned, hydrogen releases no greenhouse gases, making it a sustainable energy source. Liquid hydrogen, lighter and more powerful than its gaseous state, allows the vehicle to travel further and eliminates the need for high pressurisation required by gaseous hydrogen, offering more flexibility in tank design. However, it must be kept at extremely low temperatures (-253°C).
