Our $4.1 million NGA-S-LSMOH grant for Lagos State Government (a standalone RSSH grant) is among the new 152 The Global Fund grants that commenced implementation in 2024. The overarching goal of the grant is to further strengthen and expand the capacity of systems to address health issues in an effective, equitable, and sustainable manner, while the technical approach to implementation is structured to address the gaps and weaknesses within the health system that will benefit the HIV, TB, Malaria (HTM) programs and other diseases of public health interest while strengthening capacity within Lagos State to ensure long-term sustainability. This grant will strengthen health systems for the delivery of packages of essential health care services through activities and interventions that support the overall health architecture and improve the delivery of health services for sustainable health outcomes in Lagos State. This investment over the next 3 years (2024–2026 Implementation Period) will strengthen keys blocks of the health systems, which include but are not limited to the following: * Health Financing towards the attainment of universal health coverage (UHC) by increasing access to the Lagos State Health Scheme and State Health Account. * M&E systems by scaling up the rollout of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in select health facilities. * Human Resources for Health (HRH) through operationalization of the Lagos State Human Resources for Health Information Management Systems (LSHRHIS) * Quality of care improvement by increasing the pool of state quality assessors and facilitators, enrolling additional health facilities in the state’s Quality Improvement Program, and conducting integrated supportive supervision. * Laboratory systems strengthening through the institutionalization of Quality Management Systems (QMS) towards accreditation for select labs, external audit towards accreditation, and operationalization of the LASUTH PCR lab. I get a bit confused when I see the Murdoch oligopoly's recent support for Australia's dairy industry, because I'm aware that for so long when the supermarket price water were taking place and our rural communities were having and dairy farming families were having their assets stripped by human trafficking and money laundering operations orchestrated by Australian, British and Canadian politicians, the Murdoch family's news media assets did not defend our farming families, our nation's food security, our constitutional civil liberties, nor our democracy. Rather, the Murdoch oligopoly participated directly in the conspiracy to commit treason by Australian politicians, including John Howard and Jeff Kennett, and kept its mouth shut about the systemic, corrupt abuses of political and market powers that were used to strip our families of their assets, including the large scale human trafficking and slavery-like exploitation that took place on behalf of ultra wealthy families, politicians and politically exposed persons. The issues with the culpability of the Murdoch family and News Corp are compounded by the fact News Corp owns the farmers newspaper, the Weekly Times. So News Corps editors and publishers knew precisely what was happening in Australia - the treason that was taking place, but chose not to defend our nation, our national security, our democracy, and the food security interests of everyday Australian families. Rather, the Murdoch family and News Corp were instead acting in the interests of a foreign government - the British Tories In many countries, the behaviour that occurred here in Australia is a capital offence. It pisses me off, what happened, because I grew up thinking that Lachlan Murdoch was probably a decent human being. We are the same age. CONVERSATION WITH (MR A) MR A - Jeff, what do you think the regional food security and sufficiency scene would look like? Jeff - In 10 years time, we will be able to address 1 % of nutrition needs with at least 30% smaller carbon footprint and ZERO exposure. MR A - How do u think the system can do better? Jeff - incentivise through subsidies for soil friendly solutions and watch income bracket of SMEs grow. A holistic approach is therefore fit for purpose, similar to how we tackle gestational diseases in a population.

Like never before, we are solving our problems via integrated pathways, one of them is the one health approach. As a one health advocate, this week's read is to commemorate the one health day which I am optimistic will improve the knowledge of global citizens towards the principles of one health and it applications. Salient points from week 44: 1. Politics is omnipresent in one health. 2. The one world, one health initiative was launched in 2008 by WHO, OIE, and FAO. 3. Whatever affects the soil, goes to our water, air, animals which humans consume. Pathology goes back to the environment leading to a continuous cycle of cross infection. 4. More than 60% of diseases which affects humans are of zoonotic origin while 3 of every 5 human diseases which emerges per annum are from animals. 5. The continuous interaction of humans with the environment in activities like deforestation keeps changing the percentage and biodiversity of pathogens. 6. Environmental health promotes human health. Areas with low presence of green space leads to increased exposure to environmental carcinogens. 7. Exposure of children to animal abuse increases their chances of being criminals. 8. Strengthening of governance in one health approach requires knowledge integration in all stages of policy development. In conclusion, the application of one health strategies from ideation to implementation has become a need in solving our one world crisis. #drfajembola #eachonehelpone #onehealth
