Reach: Many decacorns have a global presence, expanding their operations beyond their home markets and targeting customers worldwide. Potential for IPO or exit: Decacorns frequently generate interest from the public markets and may consider going public through an initial public offering (IPO) or seek other exit opportunities, allowing early investors and employees to realize returns.

Wendel, a family-held investment company, completed the acquisition of an 82% stake in Scalian, a European consulting firm in digital transformation, project management and operational performance, for €557m ($613m). "Wendel will be an active partner for Scalian, contributing its recognized expertise in developing global leaders in business services, through both organic and external growth. We share the ambition of its leader, Yvan Chabanne, of unlocking the company’s full value creation potential in Europe and North America and making it an international leader in its field. Scalian's highly entrepreneurial culture and its recognized ESG performance are fully in line with Wendel's values. This majority investment by Wendel in an unlisted company will be fully in line with the strategic roadmap we announced a few weeks ago, including the ambition to invest two billion euros over the next twenty-four months," Laurent Mignon, Wendel Group CEO. "The offer from Bidco represents an attractive valuation and offers shareholders the certainty of cash today, while also fairly reflecting the exceptional quality of the Instem business, its people and its future prospects. What is SPAC? SPACs are like "blank check companies." They raise money through an IPO, just like traditional companies, but they have no existing business or products. Their sole purpose is to find a promising private company and acquire or merge with that company to take it public. How it works? - For example, a group of experienced investors forms a SPAC called "Investment-X" and raises $200 million through an IPO. Investors are essentially giving Investment-X a "blank check" with the trust that the team will find a great company to acquire. - After IPO, the Investment X team spends months searching for the perfect target. Maybe they find an electric vehicle startup called "E Motors" that's on the verge of disrupting the industry. - Investment-X and E-Motors announce a merger. Investors in Investment-X now become shareholders in the combined public company, "E-Motors." This gives E-Motors access to the public markets to raise capital and fuel its growth.
