Here's a tip on excluding products from automated collections... Use Metafields 😎 Automated collections are superior to manual collections in so many different ways, but what about instances where you want to exclude certain products from those collections? It's a really common practice to use similar tags or even just instances where you want to hide from that equal parts pesky, equal parts helpful /all collection, to exclude specific products from these automated collections. You can do this with code, but for something this "simple" custom code shouldn't be necessary. You can't exclude products based on a certain tag, but you sure can exclude based on a True/False metafield. Make sure to check "Automated Collections" when setting up and you'll be able to use this as part of your conditional check.

  • add product metafield screen in shopify settings with text that shows a true or false metafield created called show in automated collections and automated collections set to true in options

Was not aware of that Taylor Page. Is this a meta field which is automatically part of Shopify queries to retrieve products or does that need to be configured somewhere as an exclusion?

Lost count of the amount of times clients have wanted to exclude a small subset of products from a wide group in an automated collection. This is great.

Metafields FTW!
