I am thrilled to shine the spotlight on another BRUNT Workwear team member for Employee Appreciation Month, the incredible Emily Hopkins, Sales Operations Manager! Emily oversees our warehouse operations, ensures our products are reaching customers on-time, manages our ERP system and much more. She has an incredible attention to detail, which she also uses when reupholstering and giving new life to furniture.
What got you into this? My background/degree is in Textiles, Merchandising & Design and I was working in the furniture/interiors industry for a while. Sustainability and craftsmanship were two big appreciations that grew into more of a passion. I took a few classes at the Elliot School to learn basics and then took a leap into a full-time apprenticeship with a local upholsterer.
What do you love most about this? The appreciation of the craft, it is not for the faint of heart. It is messy, physical, and mental work that takes years to "master". Seeing something come back to life is very gratifying!
Is there anything you’ve learned through this that you bring to your work at BRUNT? End to end process, patience, perseverance. You need to know how to calculate yardage, time, cost, dimensions, and know when something isn’t worth it. You only get one chance to cut that fabric, so you better make sure you have done the backend process right!
