🌱 We just learnt a lot! A couple weeks ago, we wrapped up 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 (𝗔𝗜𝗘𝗣) 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 in Gaya, Bihar! 🇮🇳 For the second time, the #AIEP team from #GIZ, with whom I have the pleasure to work, convened the four great teams that are currently developing the MVPs of the AIEP alongside government representatives and experts from #AI to #agriculture to discuss progress, challenges and learnings. Being in Gaya, we also had the chance to go to the countryside to meet with farmers to discuss their needs and challenges and to demo the MVPs with them. But we also want to share our learnings so here are some of our key learnings: 👥 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 #𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿: Most farmers want to confirm information they receive with their peers, and our digital solutions need to be designed to work in this environment. But younger farmers are our likely early adopters that can move their peers along! 📟 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵: Many are experimenting and deploying Retrieval Augmented Generation #RAG pipelines to leverage #LLMs for their services but to build solutions that create value, there is a lot of work to do in fine-tuning these pipelines, especially when working in non-majority languages. Names for diseases differ a lot, the output might be too long and technical to be useful and the speech recognition system might not understand key terms while your overall indicators show reasonably good performance. Our systems work but there remains a good deal of work to optimise them. 🫱🏽🫲🏾 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀: There are many who work to provide digital solutions to farmers, and reusable components to peers. We are working to contribute open-source pieces and Digital Public Goods ourselves and the potential to leverage the #DPGs and Digital Public Infrastructure that others are building is huge!
