Our Employee Spotlight shines light on TVS Residential DSP Carolyn Trapp! She recently celebrated her 15th anniversary at TVS! Carolyn has worked as the different DSP positions over the years, including the Resident Manager of both group homes. She is credited for fostering the bond between the homes. Carolyn organized BBQs, picnics, and hangouts that are still a favorite pastime among the residents. 🎉Thank you, Carolyn for 15 years of dedicated work. We hope for 15 more! 7 whole years at Design Plus & to make my 7th year here are 7 things I've learnt throughout my journey... 1. 👉 Being thrown in at the deep end is scary, but you have 2 choices. Sink or swim. Sorry for the cliché. 😬 Myself & Robin Proud often joke about my first few months at DP, but I think he'd now agree that I chose to swim. 2. 👉 Just because you don't enjoy something doesn't mean you can't be good at it. There's a long-standing joke about how I'm bad with numbers, maths and actually all things money. My husband kindly reminded me last night that I'm a self-confessed shopaholic, despite trying my VERY hardest recently to bin this title!🙄 I'm not bad with numbers. I just used to avoid them because I dislike maths. I'm actually pretty good. 3. 👉 Some places, are just really nice places to work 🥹 I won't be the only one who's had some less-than-fun experiences throughout their early career. But the people at DP make work, more than work. In fact, Laura Brooks, Carly Pearson and I frequently say how we come to work and escape the chaos of home and mum life 😂😂 4. 👉 Eat your frogs. IYKYK 🐸 Robin Proud you get a double tag for this one 😂 5. 👉 Being challenged is a good thing. Don't shy away from something you're uncomfortable with. If you're not willing to step out of your comfort zone, don't expect to grow. 6. 👉 Returning from maternity leave was HARD. Harder than I ever expected. The transition from carefree, to mum, to working mum, and now the constant balancing act of work-mum-life. But there's a light at the end of the tunnel and I learnt to adapt. Also having a Monday morning debrief (or rant) helps - please see point 3. 7. 👉 It's always ok to ask for help. How do you ever expect to learn if you don't?
