It's the thought that counts For someone to appreciate a gift One may evaluate the gift by; - The price of the gift - The reason for the gift - The person giving the gift - The connection between the gift giver and receiver When in the midst your friends, community and family Ask yourself, How much do you value them and How much do they value you 📌 P.s. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the official closing of our retail operations (with the exception of our custom orders/corporate gifting program). Over the past six months, we have done a lot of soul-searching, and have come to the realization that in order to continue and grow the business, we would have to put in more time and money than the four of us currently have to give. We started Crying Out Loud at a time when we were all broken, and searching for something that we could pour our energy, and our heartbreak into. Now, four years later, our lives have each changed, and our needs and priorities have evolved. The past year was really hard for small businesses. That reality forced our hand, but we are closing the doors to Crying Out Loud from a place of peace. With that said, we have two big asks for our lovely community. First, we still have a fair bit of inventory that we need to sell through. Supporting others in their time of need has always been our purpose, and we hope that you will consider supporting us now. Starting today, the entire site will be 20% off, including the sale section. Gift cards will be accepted until February 29th. Second, we hope that you continue to follow us, whether it be here, or on Instagram/Facebook or by subscribing to our newsletter. We don’t know what’s next for us as a group, but we do feel called to do something more with this brand we’ve lovingly built. What that looks like remains to be seen, but we would be gutted to lose this community in the interim. Consider us on a leave of absence of sorts (as we’ve always said…rest is productive!) We do plan to continue sharing things that speak to us, and that align with our ethos (and sense of humour), so please don’t unfollow us! We built this business out of grief, friendship and, above all, a desire to help others take care of themselves and others in good times and in bad (especially in bad). We hope we have succeeded in this and that as you go forward in this messy world, you continue to exercise this care liberally and with compassion. Finally, the next time you find yourself in need of a good cry, we hope you feel empowered to do so openly and unapologetically out loud.

To paraphrase Mike Herrera of MXPX “Sustainability, what’s that?” Well, sustainability today is a little taboo when we talk about swag. A few years back I was gifted a sweatshirt when I started a new job and today, it hit the donation pile. Is it wrong to donate swag? I mean, I know the answer to the question, but why does it feel sort of wrong. Like, the hoops we jump through to get jobs and the “reward” is the swag. To answer the original question, sustainability is understanding your incoming new hires, finding swag that fits their needs and maybe offering alternatives, like instead of a swag bag, you can opt for $10 Starbucks gift card instead. I’ll link the music video by MXPX I’m referencing in the comments below.

Sunday is Global PAY IT FORWARD DAY! Countries worldwide unite with one common goal: to stand for kindness together. It starts with the simplest gesture, and here are a few ideas to inspire you: 1. Pay it Backward: buy coffee for the person behind you in line. 2. Send a positive text message to five different people right now. 3. Post inspirational sticky notes around your office, school, etc. 4. Donate old towels or blankets or purchase dog or cat food and bring to an animal shelter. 5. Surprise a neighbor with freshly baked cookies or treats! 6. Let someone go in front of you in line who only has a few items. 7. Leave a gas gift card at a gas pump. 8. Have a LinkedIn account? Write a recommendation for a coworker or connection. 9. Send a gratitude email to a coworker who deserves more recognition. 10. Write a positive comment on your favorite blog, website, or a friend’s social media account. 11. Leave a kind server the biggest tip you can afford. 12. Take flowers or treats to the nurses’ station at your nearest hospital. https://lnkd.in/eJ_8wPtm #napleslifestylegroup #payitforward #kindness

Gifting tip: Keep a record of what gifts you sent to your clients (you and I both know that you will forget). Or you can work with Ballard & Prescott and we can do that for you—along with creating unique and thoughtful gifts your clients will love!
Do you have the memory of a 🐡 ? Don’t worry! We are 🐘 when it comes to gifting. A common pain point we discovered is our clients would forget which gifts they had sent to which client—or if they had sent a gift at all. It’s not surprising! They are responsible for so many things. That is why each of our clients gets a Personal Gift Tracker. On their behalf, we keep a record of which gift was sent to each client and what the note said. No more repeat or missed gifts. Phew!

Is your life following the first way or the second? I’ve been pondering on this: Anytime a gift is given, the recipient must choose to respond in one of the two ways. The first way says; This gift is so valuable it can’t be risked. Those who follow the first way realize that when the gift is brought out of the box and into the open, things may not always go well. The gift may be poorly used sometimes. It may not always be admired by others the way we want. It may even get broken. Taking the gift out of the box is always a risk. The second way says; This gift is so valuable it must be risked. Those who follow the second way understand that if the gift is not brought of the box, it will never be used at all. To leave the gift in the box is to thwart the desire of the giver. There’s no tragedy like the tragedy of the unopened gift. You too have been given a gift. Do a ruthless self assessment—- Along with the gift you have been given a choice— whether or not you will open and use what was given to you. Is your life following the first way or second? Life is a gift 🎁 Arise and shine ✨
