Let’s talk pronouns! Why is this important? ⤵️ ❤️Pronouns affirm gender identities and help create a safe space in schools, work environments and in our community. 🧡Ask: “What pronouns do you use?” or “Can you remind me what pronouns you use?” 💛If you mess up someone’s pronouns: apologize and move on. If you feel bad that you messed up, don’t make it the other person’s responsibility! 💚Why “move on”? Drawing attention to your mistake can make a conversation more uncomfortable as the person you misgendered may feel angry/annoyed but this is not necessarily at you directly-these feelings are more often directed at the general experience of being misgendered. 💙You can’t always know a persons pronouns by looking at them. Asking someone’s pronouns is the simplest way to show your respect for their gender identity. 💜If you feel safe doing so, share your pronouns when introducing yourself to others. #mentalhealth #pronouns #pridemonth

Today is International Pronouns Day! My pronouns are she/they. As a feminine-presenting person, I am often referred to using only she/her pronouns, but this practice erases the visibility of an entire piece of my identity. I identify as a woman, and I also identify as a genderqueer person, and a person's gender identity does not always fit into one "set" of pronouns. Gender can be exciting, complex, and often personal, and using a person's correct pronouns demonstrates that you respect them and see them for who they are. 🏳️🌈 If you identify as a cisgender person, or a person who identifies with the sex registered for them at birth, please share your pronouns in the spaces you enter both online and in-person as it shows solidarity and can help gender-expansive people feel comfortable and safe to share theirs too. Understanding pronouns is crucial for respecting the identities of everyone in our community. Pronouns often express a person's gender identity or refer to someone without using their name. It's important to note that pronouns don’t always align with a specific gender. This emphasizes the need to avoid making assumptions. HOW DO I KNOW SOMEONE’S PRONOUNS AND GENDER? If you are having a conversation with or about a person, it’s polite to ask for a person’s pronouns. You can ask the person privately “how would you like me to refer to you?” or “can I just check, what pronouns do you use?” BUT WHAT IF I MAKE A MISTAKE? If you make a mistake, acknowledge it, apologize quickly, correct yourself, and move on with the conversation. In my day the argument was even on the page but in today world this is very important item in the workplace for some. 🗣 Mistaking or assuming peoples' pronouns without asking first, mistakes their gender and sends a harmful message. Using someone's correct gender pronouns is one of the most basic ways to show your respect for their identity. Pronouns affirm gender identities and create safe spaces by referring to people in the way that feels most accurate to them. Gendered pronouns include she and he, her and him, hers and his, and herself and himself. "Personal gender pronouns" (or PGPs) are the pronouns that people ask others to use in reference to themselves. They may be plural gender-neutral pronouns such as they, them, their(s).

🩷💛🩵 PAN PRIDE DAY 🩷💛🩵 December 8th is Pansexual and Panromantic Pride Day. Pansexuality is the romantic, emotional, and/or sexual attraction to people regardless of their gender. Like everyone else, pansexual people may be attracted to some people and not others, but the gender of the person does not matter. People of any gender identity can and do identify as pansexual. Some people find it helpful to define ‘Pansexual’ as sexual attraction and ‘Panromantic’ as romantic attraction, and it’s possible to be pansexual but not panromantic, and vice versa. Pansexuality shares many similarities with bisexuality. The simplest way to understand their difference is that bisexuality includes attraction to multiple genders, while pansexuality includes attraction to all genders. Both definitions aren’t mutually exclusive, because attraction to all genders is a subset of attraction to multiple genders. The label you choose depends on which you feel more accurately describes yourself! #pansexuality #pansexualpride #pan #panpride #panprideday #pansexualprideday

🏳️⚧️Today is Trans Day of Visibility. 🏳️⚧️ Simple actions to be an ally: 1. Put your pronouns in your bio. 2. Introduce yourself using your pronouns, instead of asking others what theirs are. 3. Support, follow, share, and amplify Trans voices and businesses owned by Trans folks every day. 4. Educate yourself on the difference between gender expression, gender identity and sexuality. 5. Everyone makes mistakes; if you accidentally misgender someone or use the wrong pronoun, apologize, correct yourself and move on. A little compassion goes a long way.

Do you know, the term #pansexual was popularised by 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐮𝐝 in the early 𝟏𝟗𝟎𝟎𝐬? Freud introduced the concept of "𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦" to describe the idea that individuals are capable of being attracted to a variety of objects or experiences, beyond just sexual attraction to people. 🌈 The term "𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲" took on a more contemporary meaning as discussions around sexual orientation expanded in the latter half of the 20th century. It began to be used to describe an orientation characterised by the potential for attraction to individuals regardless of their gender identity. Pansexuality is often misunderstood or underrepresented today. This 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲, let’s amplify awareness, foster open conversations, and create a world where individuals of all sexual orientations feel seen, heard, and valued. 🌍 🤝 Pride-Ed | Rainbow Bazaar | Pride At Work #PansexualPride #LoveBeyondBoundaries #InclusivityMatters #CelebrateDiversity

International Non-Binary People’s Day (July 14) celebrates those whose gender experience and identity aren’t a good fit with the binary options viewed as normative in most cultures today. Although numbers are increasing with more appropriate data collection tools, and wider access to non-binary language and community resources, we remain a tiny minority in most settings. A simple way to make people of any gender feel valued is through good pronoun etiquette: share your pronouns regularly; ask, don’t assume the pronouns others use; make a consistent effort to use pronouns correctly; don’t worry if you make a mistake, just apologise and do better the next time; make it easy for people to share if their pronouns change over time. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true: it doesn’t take much to communicate to non-binary people that you are not someone they can trust. As this graphic from Sam Dylan Finch powerfully demonstrates, ignoring pronoun requests is deeply hurtful, even if not your intention. Getting them right, in contrast, brings many good feelings, and helps create communities and organisations where people of any gender can thrive. Let’s all do better! https://lnkd.in/gHkiXbRw
