This week, I stand at a monumental crossroads of my career with Amazon, reflecting on the incredible journey of 2190 days as a proud Amazonian. Looking back to when I began as a Tier 1 associate 6 years ago, it's spectacular to think that anyone suggesting I would go that far.Yet, here I am, a testament to the limitless possibilities that unfold when we embrace dedication and dream big. 🚀🌟. it was a decision that set in motion an incredible saga filled with growth, challenges, and boundless opportunities. With each passing year, I've had the privilege of involving myself in the unique of six different Amazon buildings, each contributing of my understanding of Amazon's operations. Looking back, I'm grateful for every moment that has shaped me into who I am today. The heart of my career lies in mentorship and leadership. Guiding individuals toward success and helping them realize their potential brings me great joy. As I've embraced new challenges, I've learned that the path to success is paved with dedication, resilience, and a willingness to step out of my comfort zone. It's not the absence of challenges that define us, but how we rise above them. As I embark on this next chapter of my Amazon journey, I am excited to create a future where every challenge is an opportunity and where we continue to make history, because on Amazon, it's always Day 1. Today marks my last “Day One” at Amazon 😊 Here’s what I’ve learned in 42 months: It's a bittersweet moment! Hard to sum up such an incredible journey, but here goes! 3 things I will miss the most: 👥 The People: It's been a privilege working with such talented and supportive colleagues. The teamwork, laughs, and shared successes have made every day here special. 🌱 Personal Growth: Amazon wants you to succeed. The commitment to continuous learning and growth here has played a pivotal role in my own evolution. 💡Leadership That Inspires: The leaders here are more than just managers; they're mentors. Their commitment to my personal and professional growth has been a key part of my journey. I basically blinked a 3 years have gone by. Raising my official tenure to 4 years and 3 days. Boomerang math is tough … but I digress … And never once have I regretted my choice to return to Amazon. This ride has been so challenging and so amazing. I’ve gotten to be a part of and lead the development of various parts of the WA AMZL region - countless promotions, events, many many millions of packages delivered, weather, power outages, AWS Sev events, three Peaks, three Primes, and so many celebrations … and honestly even through the lows I’m reminded why I love operations. Because our team always finds a way. And then we learn from it and reach new highs. And I still get to show up and see more tomorrow. After crushing Prime week I can’t wait to see what the team does next. Four years ago, I started my 2nd stint at Amazon. It felt like the initial setup of a chessboard, with endless possibilities and a world of opportunities ahead. I can't help but draw parallels between my time here and the intricate strategies of the game. My Amazon journey has been about mastering the art of strategy, adaptability, and continuous improvement. In chess, adversity strikes, but it's the strategy and adaptability that determine our success. At Amazon, challenges have been opportunities for growth and innovation. Another incredible Amazonian spotlight: Reflecting on my journey at Amazon, I owe a debt of gratitude to David Knollman. His mentorship during my onboarding was instrumental in helping me navigate the challenges of those critical first six months. Honestly, I would have quit if it weren’t for David seeing me struggle and stepping in to help me learn. Not only did he impart valuable knowledge and insights, but he also has a remarkable ability to inject humor and levity into even the toughest situations. David's selflessness is often undervalued— Time and time again, he stepped in to fill gaps, offer support, and guide me over countless obstacles. Whether it was lending an empathetic ear, sharing his expertise, or simply leading by example, David consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication and integrity. Those days when Ops were allowed in the trailer yard, David would often come outside with me for a breather, and he helped me see the big picture and the reason we were doing what we were doing. What sets David apart is his commitment to doing the right thing, regardless of personal gain. His actions exemplify the values that define Amazon's culture – customer obsession, innovation, and operational excellence. I am grateful for his mentorship, friendship, and unwavering support, which have been pivotal in shaping my journey and keeping me motivated to push through challenges. 🌟 I joined Amazon in 2020, and from Day 1, I have had the incredible pleasure of working with Amazon North America and India, even helping to pivot a new department as one of its founding members during the challenging times of Covid. During those difficult days, Amazon came to me as a ray of sunshine, providing me with the opportunity to work and learn each and every day. 🌟 What truly sets Amazon apart is its unwavering commitment to high standards and customer obsession. Every day at Amazon is a new learning opportunity, where I discovered new tools, procedures, and processes. Ever pictured a 43-year-old man having a total emotional moment alone at the dinner table? Well, that was me last night. The reality of saying goodbye to my Army career and stepping into the corporate arena hit me all at once. I could only stay busy for so long. The emotions caught up. Their mission resonates deeply with me: - F: Focus on the Customer - T: Take Care of Our People - W: Win Every Day - 1: Onebound These principles are familiar territory for me. Different setting, same dedication: showing respect and empowering people to conquer their Everest. ✅ Seattle bound: Heading there next week for Amazon AD1 onboarding.
