At Lucid Reality Labs, we see its immense potential for XR content development as reduced production time and cost-effectiveness, AI-enhanced object segmentation providing high accuracy, and many more. It has some limitations at a time: SAM 2 can sometimes misidentify or lose track of the target object if it is only specified in one frame, particularly in cases involving drastic camera viewpoint changes, extended occlusions, crowded scenes, or lengthy videos. Nonetheless, this model equips XR applications with more intuitive and engaging user interfaces for improved interaction and engagement.
