We're pleased to announce that we are joining the 3Rs Collaborative Microphysiological Systems Initiative. Microphysiological systems (MPS) look to overcome some of the limitations seen in existing in vivo and basic in vitro systems, aiming to increase translation, efficiency, efficacy, and safety of models for drug development. MPS are diverse in nature and include tissue models such as spheroids, organoids, and organs-on-chips. The 3RsC-MPS Initiative comprises 82 representatives from 39 institutions, including 28 providers of commercially available MPS (that are already translated into industry use) as well as several end-users. Its principal goal is to increase the adoption of MPS technologies through stakeholder engagement. We are excited to announce the launch of the 2D-BioPAD project, a non-invasive and cost-effective system for the screening and monitoring of #Alzheimersdisease! 2D- BioPad is a consortium of 11 partners funded by Horizon Europe, European Union’s funding program for #researchandinnovation. The project is coordinated by the RCPTM - Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials of Palacký University in Olomoucý and the participants are: Q-PLAN INTERNATIONAL, the Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2), Grapheal, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), NOVAPTECH, the University of Eastern Finland, the Alzheimer Hellas (Greek Association of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders), the Central Institute of Mental Health, the CeADAR Ireland and of course Evnia! Evnia is the medical device regulatory and clinical expert of the 2D-BioPAD consortium and ensures that all regulatory requirements and compliance with relevant #ISOstandards and #MDR #IVDR Regulations will be ensured throughout the different phases of the design, implementation, experimentation and deployment of the project. We also oversee the embedding of #patientsafety and #ethicalstandards during the design process, following a user-centred approach. The 2D- BioPad consortium had its kick-off meeting in #Thessaloniki at the beginning of October 2023 where we had the chance to meet all our partners. When I first started in #MedComms there was plenty of terminology that I hadn’t heard though I had over 10 years of clinical pharmacy experience. Some aspects of industry/MedComms/agency/CRO world were very unfamiliar. If you’re looking to break into #Pharma in any aspect but specifically in a role that will involve medical meetings, I encourage you to follow her posts each week! This is a simple way to enlarge your medical meetings and events vocabulary.
