If I’m honest, I know I would personally benefit from this deal if the data from #StackOverflow is incorporated into publicly available models (assuming it wasn’t already scraped prior to this). The news has been on fire with the drama at OpenAI. I've been asked the question a few times - should companies continue building with OpenAI models & APIs, or look elsewhere? My take is that the state of the art is moving so quickly, any implementation should assume that you'll be swapping out models as they improve anyway. The real value that a company like The Link, or internal company team, would create is in the embedded knowledge and IP we bring, not the models we integrate from elsewhere. So, my response is sit tight, keep learning and building, and if OpenAI stops supporting or even offering their models, you're very likely to have some warning and be able to switch in a reasonable timeframe. In the meantime, get some popcorn, because this is the weirdest corporate governance story in decades.
