CO-FOUNDER of the non-profit organization PA:KOBLET • Building Agility and Resilience from AI Automation in All Job Sectors Through Skill-Based Hiring (Theoretically Endorsed by IBM, Google, Deloitte, McKinsey)
I’m very grateful to be selected; there are many ethical issues to be discussed now. Like why are there so few women in tech? Some of the best programmers and scientists in the world have been women; and historically this is true and obvious. There is indeed a deep rooted problem today that prevents gender diversity in this field. And outdated education and hiring practices are so bad; it makes no sense to me why we continue. Skills based hiring is a paradigm shift in recruitment & education that’s been adopted very successfully by Google, IBM, Accenture, Deloitte, US GOV, and many more. But it’s NOT practiced in Norway. Everyone uses CV-first hiring 😅 Yet, Skills-based hiring is essential for fostering ethical practices that support women in tech. By prioritizing actual skills and competencies over traditional credentials, this approach breaks down barriers that often disproportionately affect women. It ensures a fair evaluation based on abilities rather than biases linked to CVs or traditional qualifications. I’ve been committed to advancing a fairer, more inclusive hiring landscape that empowers women and other underrepresented groups in the tech industry for ~6 years. However, the majority of hiring is not ethical or scientifically valid. I hope this raises awareness to these outdated practices 💪 Look forward to selecting and promoting all promising candidates.

“What’s your startup again? Like a YMCA for rich people?” ~ Brussels, 2023. OUCH. That might have been the craziest/funniest interpretation of Yayem, but it highlighted one of our biggest pains. I’ve confused many people (including myself) with so many iterations of Yayem since launching 3 years ago: - building up our Y Houses & communities in Lisbon and Mexico City - becoming a travel app for champagne nomads - hosting everything from poolside chats to cacao ceremonies… Playing 0 to 1 by the book. Celebrating our 3 year anniversary next month, I realise that our Why was actually quite clear all along: To encourage cross-cultural dialogue in a world that is more divided than ever. Members might come for fun social connection, but they stay for meaningful, global conversations and a unique sense of community they can’t find anywhere else. Even though my YMCA days are far behind me 😂, I cannot go without cross-cultural discovery - it broadens my horizons like nothing else. It's the best remedy against echo chambers and polarized bubbles — which are our biggest enemy. As we enter Y4 of the Yayem journey, we hope to bring exposure to new ideas and fresh perspectives into the lives of our members though the power of extraordinary global connections. Together, we’re on a mission to solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Maybe one salon at a time ;)

Over the past few days, I have been immersed in the task of curating speaker bios for Kenya Innovation Week 2023 - IPR Summit. As I perused LinkedIn bios to gather additional information on some speakers. It became apparent that many LinkedIn profiles often fail to fully showcase the depth of their expertise and skillset. Backing this observation with statistics reveals a significant gap—over 60% of LinkedIn bios lack the depth needed for a comprehensive professional representation. I casually glanced over mine and it was a wakeup call for all of us navigating the professional landscape. A truly impactful bio should delve beyond the surface, offering a glimpse into skills, achievements, and aspirations. It's about crafting a narrative that authentically tells our professional stories. It's time for a revamp. !!!!!!! Refine your bios to reflect the true essence of who you are and what you bring to the table. Let's elevate our professional narratives together. #LinkedInBio #ProfessionalProfile #StatisticalInsights #CraftYourStory 🚀

#throwbackthursday Exactly 2 weeks ago, we were closing the TetRRIS Project in #Tampere, Finland. After 3 years of active collaboration, it was a bitter-sweet goodbye of course! 🙏 🛣 Nevertheless, this is not the end of the story, neither for the partners, nor for the regions that were involved in our project. We will be carrying and drawing upon our results for years to come! So today we wanted to share a few more highlights from the conference: ✨ From Silvia Abad of the #EuropeanResearchExecutiveAgency, we learned that TetRRIS’s multi-stakeholder/multi-actor approach is already being replicated in different programmes like #HorizonEurope #Cluster6 #agrifood sector. “This is something that would have been impossible a few years ago”! ✨Our 4 pilot regions #SzegedTimisoara (HU/RO), #Cantabria (ES), #Karlsruhe (GE) and #Tampere (FI) are extremely different in terms of strengths/barriers/top issues with regards to innovation. And to tackle that, #TetRRIS managed to adopt a really tailor-made #RRI approach. As Mika Nieminen and Richard Tuffs put it “It's very important to have a clear articulation of benefits, have a shared language and consistent policies and regulations for achieving RRI implementation in the different regions." How will this TetRRIs journey help in the future? 🌟 TetRRIs project helped by making explicit what was already there but implicitly implemented in the regions. 🌟It helped change mindsets, increase #trust & bring overall change to the innovation approach in the 4 pilot areas. 🌟TetRRIs helped the involved research institutes to “think out of the box”. The Policy lab in #Santander for example helped to tackle aspects that were sometimes taken for granted and that researchers were not always reflecting upon. 🌟The most important gain for the participants was the fact that they were able to understand that lot of companies in their region were already doing RRI without realizing it. Therefore, thanks to TetRRIs they will be able to help other researchers/innovators to become more familiar with the concept. A reminder on where to find all relevant documents, podcasts and materials of the project: https://tetrris.eu/
