How are tech advances helping to keep us healthier? "Before, you were at the mercy of what your provider told you," UCSF School of Nursing's Linda Park says. "You’d take a prescription and do your best. But digital health puts so much power in patients’ hands. The benefit really happens when people want to implement healthy behaviors, whether physical activity, medication adherence, or something else." https://ucsfh.org/3XSL23p

The FDA is making a bold move into home-based healthcare innovation. Their new "Home as a Health Care Hub" initiative will help reimagine the home environment as an integral part of the health care system. Key Points: - Focus on Health Equity: The FDA is prioritizing designs that address underserved populations (rural, low-income). This commitment could significantly reduce health disparities. - Patient-Centric Approach: Shifting care to the home prioritizes patient comfort, convenience, and control over their care plan. This can drastically improve engagement and adherence. - Alleviating Systemic Strain: Home-based care solutions have the potential to lessen the burden on hospitals and healthcare systems, improving efficiency and resource allocation. - Collaborative Future: The initiative fosters collaboration between device developers, policymakers, and providers, ensuring comprehensive solutions and aligning regulations with real-world use and safety. #innovationinhealthcare #patientexperience #healthequity #fda #homehealth https://lnkd.in/dC7YkFV4

Best Buy has gone all-in with healthcare. In my keynotes for hospitals, clinics, and health systems, I typically include Best Buy's healthcare moves. I hear from audience members that this is one of the biggest surprises of the day! 🔸In 2018 Best Buy bought GreatCall for $800 million - GreatCall provides health and medical alert services for aging in place and owns the Lively™ - Jitterbug Flip2 Cell Phone for Seniors 🔸In 2019, they started selling the TytoCare #telemedicine tool kit with device applicators including a #stethoscope, tongue depressor, and #otoscope that attach to a video camera so a clinician can see the live or recorded video feed 🔸In 2021 Best Buy became a hospital provider when they bought Current Health (founded in 2015) for $400M. Current Health is a company that provides remote monitoring and hospitalizations at home 🔸And just last month, Best Buy launched a partnership with Geisinger to deploy the Geek Squad to patients' homes to install and set up remote monitoring devices and teach patients how to use the connected devices About Geisinger: They have 10 hospital campuses, a health plan with >500k members, a research institute, and the Geisinger College of Health Sciences. The health system has 25,000 employees and more than 1,700 employed #physicians #RPM #AI #artificialintelligence #hospitals #healthtech https://lnkd.in/ge_7xzGE

What does high-quality senior care look like? Providing regular health checks & care for our elders is always stressful for the patients and their family members, as transporting them to a clinic or hospital for such check-ups isn’t always easy. But WHY do we assume that patients will have to visit the Hospital or Clinic to receive high-quality care? Why can't the Hospital or Clinic come home? At RHEMOS Health, that's the goal we set off to achieve with our Health Station. Our target was to bring about a revolutionary change in the way care is delivered and to enable people to receive hospital-grade healthcare in their own homes. The RHEMOS Health Station uses the next generation of hand-held medical devices that rapidly and accurately measure up to 60+ vitals in the comfort of your home. RHEMOS devices are easy to use and enable basic Paramedics to visit the patient's homes to administer tests. Test results are transmitted to a Smartphone Telemedicine App for real-time remote monitoring by clinician nurse-stations, caregivers/family, and doctors to closely monitor any abnormal results and enable immediate interventions and care. RHEMOS Health Station is medically certified and trusted by over 125 hospitals, home-care & senior-care companies, and is bringing personalized, data-driven healthcare to over 400,000 patients every month for primary, acute, specialty, and chronic care. Contact us if you would like to deliver the next level of home care. https://lnkd.in/dWHqZsJZ #healthcare #digitalhealth #healthtech #diabetes #hypertension #telemedicine #medicaldevices #connectedcare #wellness #health #chroniccaremanagement #remotepatientmonitoring #remotehealthcare

How Remote Patient Monitoring is Changing the Game for Seniors The world of healthcare is evolving, and nowhere is this more evident than in the care of our aging population. Remote patient monitoring (RPM) is emerging as a powerful tool, offering seniors the freedom to age in place while providing caregivers with invaluable insights into their well-being. Imagine grandma living comfortably in her own home, her vital signs and daily activities seamlessly tracked by a network of smart sensors. Blood pressure readings are transmitted wirelessly, medication adherence is monitored discreetly, and even subtle changes in sleep patterns alert caregivers to potential health concerns. This is the reality RPM makes possible. Here is a non-comprehensive list of how RPM is transforming senior care. Early detection Reduced hospital visits Improved chronic disease management Peace of mind for families Improved quality of life Independence Despite the challenges, RPM has great potential for elderly care. As technology advances and adoption grows, we can expect even greater benefits for seniors and caregivers. What are your thoughts on RPM for elderly care? Share your insights in the comments below!

Health Tech continues to be all over the place, with not a lot of goals in mind of how to actually improve the patient experience. But, MHealthIntelligence talks about how connected health tech boosts care, particularly in behavioral healthcare. There are still a lot of problems with the integration of this technology, but accessibility is one of the main focuses. If we can get patients access to these digital spaces, they will be much more likely to accept the technology in their healthcare plan. #HealthcareTech #PatientExperience

Health care professionals can be at the center of maximizing the value of digital measurement to improve their patients’ health. While work to integrate digital measures into clinical workflows will continue to be done, there is enough to get us across a threshold to where digital measurement of physical activity is a common part of patient care plans. To kick the can down the road and delay leveraging digital measures of physical activity in practice is a disservice to patients and the care they deserve…
