💡 Naoki Tsutsumi, Executive Officer and Head of the Hydrogen & Ammonia Upstream Business Group of JERA, had the honor of delivering a keynote speech at the Indonesia International Hydrogen Summit held on June 19-20 in Jakarta. During his presentation, Mr. Tsutsumi highlighted JERA's initiatives to utilize ammonia as a fuel to decarbonize thermal power stations. He also shared insights from the power sector decarbonization roadmap study for Indonesia, conducted in collaboration with PT PLN (Persero) and also reported to Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR). Emphasizing the crucial role and potential of ammonia and hydrogen, he underlined their importance in achieving Indonesia's carbon neutrality goal by 2060. This study serves as a foundation for updating the Master Plan for Energy Transition, a program supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in cooperation with Indonesia's MEMR. Decarbonization is indeed a global challenge, but the path to achieving it should be tailored to the specific circumstances of each country and region.
