ACCA’s 13th Annual Integrated Report 2024 is out and available. In 2023-24, our strategic focus reflected our ambitions to capitalize on a world of opportunity. We set out to excite the global marketplace, build member pride and embed ACCA as the #1 global choice for employers, partners and new entrants to the profession. Among the many more achievements, here are few key highlights: 1. The monumental milestone of a quarter of a million members worldwide. 2. Over 12,500 new members and welcomed just under 100,000 new students. 3. Continued to ensure ACCA is the #1 global choice for employers with an employer Net Promoter Score of +51.5 and 93% of employers agreeing the ACCA Qualification provides relevant skills for their organisations. 4. Championed the role of the profession in building sustainable economies and organisations through our Accounting for a better world initiative and our presence at COP28. 5. Became the first global professional accountancy body to have our net zero targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). 6. Rolled out the ACCA Study Hub globally, providing premium study materials and learning resources for students and tutors across the world. Global accountancy body with members in 180 countries celebrates major landmark of exceeding 250,000 members in its 120th anniversary year ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) has unveiled its latest membership figures of 252,500, taking its membership to above quarter of a million following decades of strong growth. It celebrated its 200,000 member landmark just seven years ago in 2017, and the new figures represent an increase of around 2% in membership since this time last year. ACCA also has more than 526,000 future members. Ronnie Patton, president of ACCA, said: ‘The scale and scope of this achievement is amazing, and it says so much about how we attract so many people to join our worldwide community. It also highlights the substantial contribution we make to the number of qualified professional accountants across the global economy. ‘Our members live and work in 180 countries. This means that the voice of ACCA is heard in every corner of the planet, and the positive influence of ACCA members is felt everywhere. TOP SAICA APC results for IAS ACTION Professional Programme students – Pass rate 70% IAS students showed their mettle and shot the lights out with an outstanding performance in the SAICA APC final qualifying exam. With a country topping 70% pass rate! This is particularly impressive considering the national pass rate was 52%, and the IAS ACTION professional programme achieved the top pass rate among the professional programmes in it’s inaugural year. The IAS professional programme is new to the market, but clearly a breath of fresh air as they topped the tables by taking the number one spot in the country, an outstanding achievement. “We are thrilled with our students performance, and this is testament to the hard work put in by both the IAS students and staff” said Prof Gary Swartz, Head of the Institute. “This is the first presentation of the IAS professional programme, and we look forward to even better results in the future, the programme was designed around the whole journey of the student, including research performed on the whole education ecosystem from school through to undergraduate, postgraduate, and their ITC attempt, and is therefore a holistic and personalised approach.” “We have always had the philosophy at IAS that we want to support our students all the way from the PGDA to the point that they qualify as Chartered Accountants, our students are part of the family.” “Having our students successfully complete the APC exam and therefore complete the last hurdle to becoming a CA (SA) is one thing, but to have the programme top the log with the best pass rate in the country is a fantastic achievement” commented Zani Labuschagne, lecturer and Director on the programme. “We could not have asked for more from staff and students”. An extremely important aspect of the results is the pass rate differential between demographic groups, and this has been highlighted by SAICA as a concern for the examination. The IAS students outperformed here again with the highest pass rate for African students by some margin at a 67%, just 10% off the white student pass rate. The APC is the final qualifying board examination for students wanting to qualify as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa), or (CA) SA). To prepare for writing this examination, students are required to complete a SAICA accredited professional programme, one of which is the IAS ACTION Professional Programme run by the Institute of Accounting Science. ACCA, CIIPA sign exam deal ACCA and the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) have agreed on a joint examination scheme (JES) designed to build additional professional accountant capacity within the Cayman Islands to support the financial services industry and the economy  ACCA and CIIPA have signed a deal enabling the two bodies to work together in the interest of professional accountancy education. CIIPA knows that for government and private sector employers, growing local accounting talent is essential in building local capacity. The difference of a Member & Fellow of Accounting Bodies Have you ever noticed the designation FCCA & ACCA, also FCA & ACA Just to share; if you are an ACCA member, you can use the designation "ACCA". Five years after the membership, ACCA will send you a certificate of fellowship, then you can start using FCCA instead of ACCA For ICAEW members, the same applies but after 10 years of membership you will become FCA. Normally fellowship does not require additional fees or exams to be designated as a fellow. ... Other designation such as C.A.(M), CA (ANZ), are CAs issued by state professional accountancy governing bodies. If you practice in Malaysia, then it is CA (M) , in Aussie or NZ, its CA ANZ. In UK, it's ACA Even if you already have ACCA or CPA Australia for instance, if you practice in a particular country, you need to look at the local legal requirement. Some scope of services may require you to hold a local practice license (means you still need to get the local CA) - Anas

ACCA Accountant Inner Feeling Be Like… 😅 As an ACCA student, the journey is filled with intense study sessions, complex financial concepts, and endless calculations. But the feeling of mastering a tough topic or passing another exam? Priceless. You're ACCA qualified? No thanks, I want a CA(SA). If you've HEARD this, tell me your story. If you've SAID this, I want to hear why. The CA(SA) designation as our most prestigious financial qualification. No argument from me, it's understandable. SAICA is South Africa's own. Backed by our Big4 firms, they have dominated the accounting sector in SA for decades. But SAICA is no longer the only path to becoming a Chartered Accountant in South Africa. We've seen the ACCA designation enter our market through foreign nationals in years past, but now you can do your ACCA articles with a local auditing firm! What is the fundamental difference between the two qualifications? Do you think the market will ever accept ACCA as an equal qualification to the CA(SA)? A recent revelation during my ACCA journey truly shifted my perspective. Initially, I feared getting zero due to calculation errors in my answers. However, ACCA's approach surprised me! From a recent read of mind of a marker I saw Despite inaccuracies in cash flow calculations, it was awarded full marks. Why? Because ACCA values insights over mere correctness. The emphasis isn't solely on 'getting it right' but on demonstrating a deep understanding of the information. This experience taught me a vital lesson: in exam pressure, flexibility is key. Instead of fixating on a single approach, prioritizing the correct method for solving a problem is crucial. Remember, inappropriate incorporation of workings might lead to errors.
