What is a social media tool like Instagram vs. Acter? 🤔 Behind this is the question of what is good and bad about social media. Interaction and connections are good, but with BigTech, people are just a means to an end. And the end is to make money. 💰 💰 💰 Our tools will be more social and less media. They will be more human. The Acter app will be more social, and more human. You can become a supporter anytime. Just take a look at our website. #socialmedia #humantohuman #digitalactivism
I could open Instagram I could open TikTok OR I could open Acter 📲 Here's why it's important for us to build a human tool 🔧 #volunteering #social #organizing #tools

Let's talk about Instagram's censorship features, which we know, as content creators this can be a pain in the 🤐 Listen, we get it, everything isn't for everyone. And the problem is that, sometimes the censored content isn't being shown to the people that actually WANT to see it. @bloodytoothguy has a great understanding of social media and despite the censorship, he continues to provide that gory content people like to watch. Go watch the FULL episode on our YouTube channel and tell us what you think: Do you WANT to see the gory stuff or do you like the censorship? #medicalmission #globalhealth #impactinglives #makeadifference #heartwarming #heartwarmingmoments #healthcareforall #specialmoments #specialmoment #volunteering #helpingcommunity #helpingthecommunity

I have an alert set up on LinkedIn so I’m always notified of Community Manager roles in Gford - mainly so I can share with anyone I know who may be job hunting, partially because I’m nosy. Anyways, over the last year I have been astounded at the amount of companies who advertise for a community manager as a volunteer role. Unpaid, no experience necessary, just take control of the voice of the company and… ? Assuming there’s not a snr CM up the chain to learn from, this is a scary and frankly odd approach. Community management is the front line of your brand, it’s not an afterthought, it’s not an unpaid gig. If anyone, CMs should be the *most* engaged and dedicated member of your team - because they’re the ones out there, day in day out, spreading the good word and creating your brand advocates. Admittedly, these are predominantly roles outside of the games industry, but I’ve seen it in games too… and I know there have been some *spicy* conversations about marketing in games recently… but that’s a topic for another post 😅 this is purely about community management. TL:DR If you’re serious enough about Community Management to advertise for it, be serious enough about your business and customer engagement to pay for it. #CommunityManager #BestPractice

Did y'all see Bonnie Dilber 's post this morning? Incredible. It's something I've been saying to close friends and family members in the last few years. She said, "It's a weird thing asking people to go to work every day to help millionaires become billionaires and billionaires become trillionaires." So many jobseekers are looking for something different than what they've been doing. The trend I'm seeing is people are leaning more toward their values and away from climbing the ladder of success. They want their time to feel more meaningful; they want to do work that gives back to their communities; they want to see the impact their efforts are making locally rather than globally. It's inspiring. I hear "How can I pivot into a role / sector / industry without having the professional experience required?" Here's what I tell them: Volunteer. Get involved. You're not going to get the job right away. You're not qualified. You're not the missing piece to the puzzle -- yet. When I graduated college in 2019 I had no experience outside of food service and motorcycle apparel sales. How did I end up in tech recruiting with no experience? Through volunteering (and a little bit of karaoke). Get out there! Make connections! Do good work! Set goals! Start moving in the direction you want to be. Link to Bonnie's post in comments! Thank you for continuing to put out great content! #jobseekertips #careerpivot #volunteering
