The roadmap outlines strategies to foster and support innovative battery firms, ensuring they grow and remain in Canada while creating a skilled workforce to capture more value within the domestic economy. Key highlights include: -$3 billion investment in battery innovation -Establishment of a National Battery Alliance -Training over 10,000 skilled professionals by 2035 -Developing a robust IP strategy and promoting international collaboration Accelerate also developed an interactive comprehensive roadmap designed to navigate key battery innovation policies. UK Government released the 'UK Battery Strategy' over the weekend. The strategy is based around DESIGN - BUILD - SUSTAIN. Here are some thoughts I took away from it: + It highlights the end to end battery supply chain, more than just gigafactories + The UK ranks third in the world in terms of research quality into industrial batteries (UK Gov's Rapid Technology Assessment: Novel batteries) - There could be more detail to help early stage businesses to industrialisation. There is funding and existing government organisations, however 'Exploring innovative financing mechanisms to support scale-ups' could be stronger - The document highlights how the UK has been good at defending its existing automotive assets / production - as opposed to attracting new ones https://lnkd.in/eYmQxCwr
