Funny (NOT) how, back in the day, fast-food restaurant/store retail staff jobs were considered "unstable." Now, people in the knowledge economy (work is all performed on computers) are not only laid off, but laid off 2-5 times in one year. And, fast-food/retail staff jobs are short on labor. Life is like that: What's up one day will be down the next and vice versa. No one's job is inherently "better" than someone else's. And, stay ready to get another job. In recruitment, some industries don’t have the luxury of hiring one or two people to fill vacant roles. They need dozens of candidates to fill dozens of roles. They need to conduct mass recruitment. Here are 4 main reasons why do companies mass hire? 1- Business Needs Put simply, one of the top reasons companies turn to mass hiring is because their business needs demand it. For example, if you’re launching a new branch for a restaurant, you need to hire several waiters and busboys. That’s in addition to other roles like a restaurant manager or supervisor, cashier, and others. 2- Filling Vacancies Faster As mentioned, business needs will dictate whether a company needs to mass hire candidates or not. Naturally, with mass recruitment, the hiring process is different. It’s faster and accordingly means filling vacancies faster. 3- Cost Efficient Mass recruitment saves a company a lot of money when recruiting candidates. 4- Better Employer Branding Companies that turn to mass recruitment show the community they’re growing and want to fill more jobs and help more people rise in their careers. Today was my first day at my waitressing job, having my own tables. My first day completely on my own. This is the first waitressing job I’ve ever had, by the way. I really enjoyed it. I had two tables of customers specifically ask me when I’d be working, because they said I did such a good job & wanted to have me as their waitress again. One group of longtime customers told our hostess that they were impressed by me & appreciated the service I provided. I share this, because… This is my first waitressing job. I never had prior experience. My only restaurant experience was being a cook. And these were my results, on my first day. Oh, and in addition… -I’m naturally introverted. -I’m naturally a very reserved person. But, here’s the thing… In any “extroverted” job I’ve ever done… Whether it’s been sales, recruiting, or now waitressing… I’m myself. My introverted self who listens more than talks. And makes sure to get things right for my customers, without mistakes. And works incredibly hard. One of my biggest frustrations in hiring throughout my career, has been the biases of other people (that are usually wrong). I’m sharing this post because we need to stop biases in hiring. Hire the person who is best for the job. That can mean such a variety of variables, so let’s stop with the “bullet points” and actually think for ourselves. Sincerely, The INTJ Recruiter (Who has been moonlighting as a cook 👩🍳 and also now, a waitress!) #hirebetter #biasawareness #biases #introvert #introverts #thinkoutsidethebox #skillsforsuccess

**Showcase your talents** Be prepared to discuss your previous roles and past experiences in detail and come prepared with examples. Think about the type of role you are applying for and try to convey some of the key skills during your interview. If you are applying for a reception role for example, be sure to demonstrate your ability to build rapport. If you are applying to be a PA, be certain that you demonstrate your efficiency and attention to detail, if you are applying to join the HR team, find ways to connect with your interviewer and demonstrate your emotional intelligence and empathy. If interested in Food and Beverage, be ready to talk about your favourite restaurant, dish, or perhaps the last restaurant you visited and why you chose it etc. If you are coming from a different industry, or maybe this is your first role after school or University, think about what transferable skills you have. Ever looked at the requirements/desired of a job and thought it looks more like your receipt from your monthly Lidl shop than a job advert? 📜 No Product/BA job ad needs a requirement/desired list that exceeds 10+.... Don't overcomplicate the process and turn away quality talent that won't apply because they don't match every single one of your huge list of requirements😑 Often the candidates that I've placed haven't ticked every single box on paper, however when interviewed they've smashed it in the 3-4 key areas the company was looking for. Any hiring managers looking for advice on refining their Product/BA job ads feel free to reach out 📞 #productmanagers #businessanalysts #productowners #productjobs #bajobs
