Happiness, at any age, hinges on purpose. There are a multitude of other ways older adults can find a sense of purpose in their third act: • Staying connected to family. Intergenerational relationships are critical! • Volunteering for causes. • Pursuing new interests and skills. • Learning new ways for self-expression – art, writing and other creative outlets. • Considering their personal legacy and the impact they want to leave. Learn more about how we assist older adults in finding purpose in our latest blog by Bonnie Glassco, LeadingAge Business Partner of the Year: https://hubs.li/Q02wxQdY0

Came across an insightful series by Stefan K. on the work of the Supported Living Improvement Coalition post-CQC hosting. It dives into key aspects impacting the quality of supported living: variation, sharing, choice, and relationships. Quite the thought-provoker! 💭 We're particularly struck by the emphasis on choice and the significance of building meaningful relationships 🤝 in supported living environments. It raises some important questions about how these factors are navigated within our sector. What's your take on these findings? Have you encountered similar challenges or successes in ensuring quality and choice in supported living? Meet our Hands 4Life family-Grandpa Alexander with his adopted grandkids, Michael & Clinton. They love, support & encourage one another. They also pray regularly together. 💙 The relationship between younger and older generations has historically benefited both groups on various levels. Closing the generational gap between these two groups can benefit society as a whole. The grandchildren experience improved social skills and more consistency in their daily lives, which can aid them in succeeding academically and avoiding harmful influences. Similarly, grandparents are frequently healthier, less lonely, and more engaged socially. Older generations educate the younger ones on what to expect in the future and guide them so they can live their best lives. A younger individual can assist an older person in breaking out of their regular routines by encouraging them to be a little more daring. Relationships between generations display a cyclical pattern of love, care, and support. Let's work together in making generational change, one country at a time. Become a monthly partner with Hands 4Life today to support our operations in creating sustainable impact from womb to tomb. How can I encourage a sense of empathy and kindness towards others through #sustainable practices? Start within the family, show empathy and kindness to yourself as a caregiver, be sure that your child sees you taking rest when you need it, speaking kindly to yourself. Let them see that mistakes are not a big deal, we all mess up and we can all make amends when things go wrong! The great news is, young children are naturally kind and empathic, they naturally want to help, they naturally want to be kind to animals, plants and all of nature. Rewards (or punishments) are not needed, and not appropriate for any age! From a young age draw a child’s attention to how good it feels inside when we are kind and helpful to others. Older children will want to take concrete action themselves. They can take part in community projects like dog walking, making craft items to sell for local shelters, volunteering in Community. Help your children understand that sustainability is not only about preserving the #environment but also about considering the well-being of others. Sustainability lies at the intersection of social, economic and environmental aspects of the well-being of people and our planet. #InnerDevelopmentGoals #Sustainability #GlobalAction #ChangeMakers #earlychildhood #mindfulness #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #peaceeducation #educationforpeace #montessorieducation
