🚨Since our last #PrimaryProblem update, seven states (MD, NE, WV, GA, ID, KY, OR) held congressional primaries. So far in 2024, 17 states have held primaries, and just 4% of the U.S. voting age population has already elected 45% of the U.S. House. In MD, ID, KY, and OR, only 9.1% of voters chose 20 out of 22 Representatives, while nearly 3M were barred due to closed primaries.🗳 Tomorrow, more states vote. Let’s spotlight the need for nonpartisan #ElectionReform and #OpenPrimaries to make every vote truly count! https://bit.ly/3UfAJ65

I’ve said this for years, one of the biggest issues we have in this country is our primaries. Candidates spend time pandering (really lying) to a small number of typically far-left or far-right voters who tend to vote for whoever panders to the extremes better. Then when the general election gets here, far more often than not, we’re left with two hyper-partisan candidates who lied to get where they are and have absolutely no way to accomplish most (if any) of the lies they campaigned on other than to blame the other side for being the issue. It’s a broken system built on partisan pandering rather than logical, rational, and factual deal making and compromise to govern.

Highlighting the problem is a great first step, but what is the independent movement doing to elect leaders that will be the voice of change in the halls of Congress to champion these efforts?
