If we have any ability to “do math” as a nation, we will “build baby, build” in nuclear. A simple look at energy density alone (not to mention a full life cycle carbon audit) will show that nuclear is the cleanest energy production technology of all. But I am tilting at windmills…..and solar panels.
I was thrilled to see Georgia Power Company’s Vogtle 4 placed into commercial operation, making Plant Vogtle the largest #generator of clean energy in the nation. Together, Units 3 and 4 will produce enough #electricity to power an estimated 1 million homes and businesses for the next 60 to 80 years. It is surreal to see what Southern Company has achieved for Georgia, the U.S., and the world given the uncertainties in place when we partnered with them at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in 2017. Well done Chris Womack, former CEO Tom Fanning, and the entire Southern Company family on this groundbreaking accomplishment! And thanks to Rick Perry for recognizing the successful #future of this project. https://lnkd.in/gE9HJHXn

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆! Beyond the fireworks and parades, it's the quiet hum of progress – the bridges that connect us, the roads that pave way for opportunities, and the power lines that fuel our dreams. These aren't just steel and concrete; they're the very arteries of our nation, a testament to generations of American ingenuity and collaboration. Reflecting on President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s vision, his establishment of the Interstate Highway System in 1956 set the stage for unprecedented growth and connectivity across the United States. This monumental commitment by the government not only revolutionized transportation but also catalyzed economic development and strengthened national unity. The Eisenhower government's foresight illustrates how policy and commitment can transform a nation, providing a blueprint for modern infrastructure advancements. As someone with a fulfilling career in infrastructure, the impact is undeniable. It's not just about creating jobs or boosting the economy – it's about weaving communities together, fostering a level playing field for all, and laying the groundwork for a future that matters. But this future demands not just investment, but vision. We need smarter, more sustainable systems that not only stand strong but tread lightly. It's time to harness innovation, embrace clean energy solutions, and build infrastructure that benefits all. This 4th of July, let's celebrate the spirit of progress that built this nation and recommit to enabling an even more remarkable future, together. There are incredible initiatives underway, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help to improve the grade in the coming years. Learn more, get involved, and be a part of shaping a stronger, more sustainable future that we continue to build and bolster. Personally, this is the most exciting time in my career. We are witnessing a renaissance in infrastructure, driven by innovative technologies and a renewed commitment to sustainability. It's a privilege to be part of this transformative era, working alongside dedicated professionals to create systems that will benefit generations to come. Together, we are not just building infrastructure; we are building the future. Infrastructure is easy to take for granted when it's working, but it takes vision and policy and innovative funding to keep up, as Sadek Wahba explains in his forthcoming and very special book, BUILD: Investing in America's Infrastructure, from Georgetown University Press!

Utah - The Crossroads of the West From the linkage of the first transcontinental telegraph (1861) and railroad (1869), to the fourth node of what became the Internet (1969), Utah has been in the middle of the things that have changed our world. Today, we straddle a web of highway, rail, air, and broadband that connects us to the major markets of the world.
